Not good! Presume by weather you mean the wind? Was bloody blowy today, looking much calmer tomorrow morning!
Nope, Oxford area was the only bit of the south to get rained on repeatedly all morning and early afternoon. I don't want to attempt to ride really quickly in rain!Bloke is ok apparently Yonex, broken rib and heavy bruising.

Good news. The weather sucked yesterday, sick of it. Bloke is ok apparently Yonex, broken rib and heavy bruising.
Great ride that Rob, I had a bit of a mare! Power Meter decided it wasn't going to work just as I got to the start, and then managed to cock up the last roundabout and took the first left, as this was the finish for last weeks course. Losing my marbles, still PBed with a 58:35, reckon I could have got into the 57s today! Live and Learn!
Did the Newbury RC 12hr yesterday. Something of an experience - mentally tougher than an ironman that's for sure; far more solitary. Self supported, totally bu**ered up my pacing and my feeding, wanted to quit by 3 - great little pep talk and a lie down for 10 mins at the feed station, then slowly rode back into it.
Finished up with a shade over 225 miles (according to my garmin - official results pending). Happy enough with that for something I entered on a whim with little specific prep (obv already fit for 11-12hr races) Great organisation/people, and stupid cheap by triathlon standards! Also ticked off the 'double century' box while I was at it

That's a pretty impressive ride - well done Any tips for a 12hr novice, I have one coming up towards the end of August and am busy training and planning pace schedule and fuelling strategy.
Sunday is my first ever TT, the London Dynamo one round Richmond Park where I see a certain Mr Okgo as last off on the start list, so fingers crossed I don't embarrass myself too much!

Worth reading through the thread on the time trial forum about that particular 12, but also if you do a search on there you'll see loads of advice from the people who have done many of them. Remarkable ride from Mark Holton in that event, his first ever attempt at a 12 hour and he was less than 1 mile from setting an all time record! Talented bloke sure, but some mental toughness required to pull that off!Any tips for a 12hr novice, I have one coming up towards the end of August and am busy training and planning pace schedule and fuelling strategy.

Good luck Sunday, I'll have a 90 mile road race in my legs, but hoping I still have enough juice left to win on Sunday! Be careful on the rbts, I've fallen before by being a bit eager

And on a singlespeed too. The speed of the pointy end of the field has to be seen to be believed.Good luck Sunday, I'll have a 90 mile road race in my legs, but hoping I still have enough juice left to win on Sunday! Be careful on the rbts, I've fallen before by being a bit eager
Tips generally pretty obvious stuff; be very sure of your position / comfort, don't be changing saddles the day before (!!), be fairly solid/dialled on the eating side, and don't go out too hard. All the things I didn't get right
Well, after another run out last night, the scores on the doors. Scratch team- it showed, unfortunately we got the balance a bit...err.. wrong. 2 of us were just a bit too strong for the other two. After using the bank to full effect we managed the first ten miles in 18:56, looking good, but the rot had started, me and John were all over it but chris and J were already in the red. up to the turn, we were on for a 50, but the return leg was a different story. We ended up doing a two up, with the other two just hanging on behind us. Having to lay off the power started to eat into john as he was looking for a good time and he sat up. After shouting at him to man up, he knuckled down to it again. Finally finishing with a 52:11
All in all, I enjoyed it. we were never going to challenge for any wins, so I was just looking for a bit of fun with some mates. That what we had. It was good to catch up with the Port Talbot gang that I haven't seen for a while. I also remembered how much I enjoyed the Tt'ing. A bit more work need and I think I'll enter a few open events.

Fair few muck ups with the timings I think..!
Well, safe to say you beat me by a fair old margin...
I was relatively happy 27:25 v's your winning 22:58. Happy because for my first ever TT I was only 1:08 behind one of my club mates who kicks my arse all over the place in cross racing, usually beating me by a good 3-4 minutes in our vets races. Annoyingly my rear shifter popped out of the bar end coming back up the hill towards the Richmond gate roundabout so that made gear selection fun on the run back from there.
Definitely more to come though as my Strava data shows an avg heart rate of only 169 with a max of 177 so I obviously didn't go as hard as the body is capable of but I was reasonably pleased with my overall pacing by not going out too fast and still being able to make my big effort on the return from the Kingston gate to the Richmond gate. If I get into this it may be time to get more sophisticated and move to a power based measurement basis.
Really enjoyed the racing, lots of fun and definitely something I'll be getting into more - despite the crack of dawn start. Admin was a bit of a mess at the end but otherwise thought the Dynamos did a nice job re sign on & marshalling.
Now working on the longer intervals to get ready for August's 12 hour effort to work on best balance of heart rate and speed. The base target for that is 200 miles, with a schedule built on achieving my age standard of 204 miles and then a stretch target of 214 miles. Despite the stupidity of a 12 hour race I'm really looking forward to it.
