How has the surfaced bedded in? I'll be there on Saturday and was hoping I might be able to get an 18 (weather pending of course!!!).

Not good! Presume by weather you mean the wind? Was bloody blowy today, looking much calmer tomorrow morning!
Nope, Oxford area was the only bit of the south to get rained on repeatedly all morning and early afternoon. I don't want to attempt to ride really quickly in rain!

Bloke is ok apparently Yonex, broken rib and heavy bruising.

There is a.ways something nice about saying you rode a bit of road faster than anyone, ever.

Kevin Tye aint no chopper either, I believe he's actually a world champion!

Port Talbot 4 up tonight for me. Scratch team so it should be fun. I think for the first time in as long as I can remember it won't be blowing a gale on the R25 3L course for this event.
Good luck, be careful down the hill biggrin

That's a pretty impressive ride - well done smile

Any tips for a 12hr novice, I have one coming up towards the end of August and am busy training and planning pace schedule and fuelling strategy.

Sunday is my first ever TT, the London Dynamo one round Richmond Park where I see a certain Mr Okgo as last off on the start list, so fingers crossed I don't embarrass myself too much!
Worth reading through the thread on the time trial forum about that particular 12, but also if you do a search on there you'll see loads of advice from the people who have done many of them. Remarkable ride from Mark Holton in that event, his first ever attempt at a 12 hour and he was less than 1 mile from setting an all time record! Talented bloke sure, but some mental toughness required to pull that off!

Good luck Sunday, I'll have a 90 mile road race in my legs, but hoping I still have enough juice left to win on Sunday! Be careful on the rbts, I've fallen before by being a bit eager smile

TT bike nearly always quicker unless its actually a hill climb with a fairly punchy gradient, but its not - get stuck in.

I would say there is a LOT you can do with your position to be honest, 370W is very decent, 2 mins down on Keiron is a lot for that power (don't get my wrong, he is top class) - so might be worth looking into that a bit...

Yeh for sure, I think its also quite individual, I know some people who have made their positions more aggressive, i.e. lower at the front, lower at the back but its taken a long time to be able to produce the same power, but some people end up still going quicker despite less power, so it is a trade off.

I recently changed my position and maybe I'm one of the lucky few that hasn't suffered, I think I'm quite lucky with that though being flexible and double jointed and such.

Yes, 290w, he is 'very' aero and got a very fast day on a very fast course. Fantastic ride for sure, but I dare say if the nat 100 field (was on same day) rode the same event, then possibly someone may have gone even faster, but I doubt by much. It was a great ride.

290w for 3hrs 20 is certainly still beyond most people, but there are many that could do the numbers and get nowhere near the speed due to how aero he is, it basically would need someone fairly good at longer events who had an FTP of 340 or more, so it rules out a fair few.

Anyone from here entered into the National 25 champs in 10 days?

Getting to that point in the season now where the big events happen!

Ride 'with' not 'to'

I only ever 'use' it to keep everything in check for the first 1/4 of whatever distance I'm doing.

Well done.

Think my year has been so up and down with various stag dos and illness I've been too worried about it! Will see how I get on Sunday in our local league! Tonight was my first 10 in quite a while, so just smashed it round.
I am doing the R variant of that course in a few weeks. I think I did a mid 19 on that course as part of a 25 on there earlier in the year! Can be quick.

Saw that was coming up in a couple of weeks as the previous open got canned. Good luck! Definitely can be quick depending on the wind and the traffic (passing close by sucking you along biggrin )
The previous open is being re-run too, but there is another on a Saturday that I've entered as I can't make the midweek ones.

Yes, quick on the right day, sadly unlike the 25 I don't think I'll be breaking the course record for the 10 as Hutch has it with a very short 18, but I hope I can possibly trouble an 18 if the weather plays ball.
