Interesting views regards the drinking and smoking, of my improvement over the week I gave myself about 30 or 40 seconds by having coughed up Friday's fags in the Monday and got properly rehydrated. I read somewhere being a bit dehydrated can loose you something crazy like 20% potential. I was still coughing and wheezing after last night but no where near as bad as Monday.
Yes of course, riding on a hangover is not wise, but what I mean is that in the grand scheme, given there are 7 days you could be training, 1 day where you drink 8 pints and smoke a few fags isn't going to hurt you too much. I tend to drink around that one night a week and little else wink

Some of my PBs have been set on a hangover/severe sleep deficit which seems to defy all logic. Perhaps the brain isn't able to focus on the physical trauma you're putting the body through, and so doesn't hold you back so much!

There's an excel sheet of ctt events on the TT forum.

Just filter by course and then you can see the dates.
This is just a hundred and one events across the land, how do I filter as I can't find any dates for the H10/8 course smile

Did my first 2015 TT last night, a 10, and managed 9 seconds slower than last years PB at 25:30. I had hoped to beat it, so I am not convinced it's a great time. Additionally, it seems a couple of riders on completely standard road bikes made up some serious time on me too although the full results won't go up for a few days. So, not sure how I feel about the result yet!

Is that a typo as in the wiki your best time is 23:12? Or was that time from a previous year or some other variable?

The wiki time is for a different course... the h10/8.

Last night was HC123aa which in my opinion is a rubbish course. But its on my doorstep!

Your best time on H10/8 is in the 24's according to Strava which is what I wrote above...?

I know, but my time on the day was recorded as 23:12. I don't understand it either.

Scrap that, I have just gone and looked at the archived results from the 22 July when I did it and I was 24:11, so it looks like I have given myself a minute less! Best change that wiki...

Yeh being given a time exactly 1 min out can happen, happened to me earlier this year. Some poor chap thought he had won, I'd actually beaten him by 30 seconds or so when I got the correction.

So tomorrow Brad Wiggins hits almost the same course I did when I did that 18.46, he will of course be trying to beat Dowsetts competition record of 17.20, set on another ast course (E2/10).

I personally think he will beat it and it's likely he might do a 16 which is an average speed over 35mph...

Given his currently training for the hour, I agree, he should be at his best TT performance over the couple of months.

A lot will boil down to the conditions for the course, and of course lets hope muppets in cars trying to watch him don't get in the way!

I will be going to watch Sir Brad trundle down my local 10 course this afternoon - probably at the turn

Currently it is a bit breezy from the west - not ideal record setting weather for that course imo (head wind home)

Partly depends on the ferry times
