Good-o. Happy to still go with your original suggestion re timings and speed?

Lets say an easy 20kph moving avg, 1-1.5 hours of stops. 8am start from Dunwich (I know, early, but) gets us to London for around 6.30-7pm, away again 8.30 - 9, back for early breakfast.
Yep smile

Justin and other sensible one-wayers,

Richard and I are proposing refuelling on arrival in London at a pub in Bethnal Green, about 1.5 miles south of the start:

The Old George

Their site says they're bike friendly, they have a decent sized beer garden and a choice of full-on meals or bar food.

I've made reservations to eat 7pm, warned them we're filthy cyclists, and I'll call back to amend numbers depending on response here.

I'm on the 17:34 from Uckfield and get into London Bridge at 18:53 so will join you as soon as I can pedal over.

Richard is there any way I can get a small bag to you Thursday evening, change of clothes and suncream etc

Sure, but have you a driveway/porch you could leave it out Fri night, I'll pick it up EARLY Sat AM on the way up. Got plenty space so as big a bag as you like.

Your timing will be almost perfect then... Whereas Dickie I could be +/- who knows what on our ETA. If you're there first could you hold the table?

We can text you from Moreton. I can look up how long that leg took on stage 3 and maybe add 50% as we'll be taking it very easy! Plus this time I doubt I'll get motor paced half way to Epping smile

You all going to be wearing your PH cycling shirts.

Got room for 1 more?
At the Old George? I took the liberty of assuming you would be joining us there when I made the booking smile

Mate offered me a 'place' last night. A lift in his car from home in Oxfordshire to the start point, then a pick-up at Dunwich Sunday am. and straight back home to my front door.

That's my sort of adventure.

Shaw tarse with a Synapse here. I'll PH jersey up unless the forecast changes massively.

I'll be the windswept looking shaw tarse in a very wet PH jersey then smile

I'm assuming it's convective rather than frontal rain they're worried about? So sudden and torrential but short lived. Hmm. Would you recommend rain cape or gilet (until we get to the nearest pub)?

Indeed. The logistics of getting there and back for this sort of thing are always a massive pain in the arse.

It's my fault. I've managed to go all year so far without once getting caught in the rain. I've got a right soaking coming...

I'm quite a way off your route up in Mayfield, there is a spot in Uckfield I could use to leave one which is not too far off track? Or shall I just come down with it (no sweat to do so)
