go the whole hog and get revolights

I have a set of the rears which will be on jr's bike, contemplating a second one.
Very nice and way more sensible and useful... but not rocking quite the same variety of chromatic gamut or stroboscopic flair of the 8-way flashy Chinese "Flaming Chariot"!https://revolights.refersion.com/c/2c9de

Havent read the whole thread but is the course fairly flat ? also is the a gpx file for it?
Yes, it's only something like 1,400m of climbing in 180km.Strava route: https://www.strava.com/routes/465225?hl=en-GB

Buying bike lights is harder than choosing a mortgage.
After what seems like about 50 man days of research, I'm about 40% certain that one or other of the below lights is what I'll try and go for to equip me for the Dynamo and any subsequent adventures.
£30
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Torchy-BK-O1ne-Endurance...
£25
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Xeccon-CS01-500-Lumen-US...
Hopefully one of these has the right combination of Chinese sourced cheapness, reassuring UK high reputation seller, brightness and longevity and quality of battery.
Which one is better suited to the job?
Anyone got better options or can see holes in the plan to use one of these?
(with a moon comet style aldi light as back-up that I already own).
Do I need to be buying more batteries to keep it going through night?

I dug through the parts box last night and found these, a present from my mother in law a couple of Christmases ago.
Sadly they are a schrader and my 2yr old broke one last night, but I might see if I can fix/insulation tape/cable tie them to the spokes or something. Is that the dun thing?
Right! Rant time!Sadly they are a schrader and my 2yr old broke one last night, but I might see if I can fix/insulation tape/cable tie them to the spokes or something. Is that the dun thing?
Those friggin' valve-cap lights? How much do they cost? £3? £4? £5? Surely not much more than that in this disposable age of cheap-as-chips crap from China, right?
LR1130 batteries though? Do you think they're easy to find? And how much do you think they cost if/when you do find some?
SIX! of them I need. Six shiny new LR1130/AG10/LR54 batteries. At £2.99 EACH!!!! from bloody Maplins, each one individually wrapped. Or alternatively I have to throw myself to the sharks on ebay. I had found a card of 50 of the buggering things for about £6 including shipping from Sweden, but I got dragged out before I could complete my purchase this morning and now I can't find the website again...
Seriously, though. At £2.99 each, that's barely less than £18 to get those lights working again. A quick check on ebay and they can be had for as little as £1.27 for two lights WITH batteries including free postage from bloody China/HK.
Grrrr!

Poundshop for button cells?
I'm going to try that route. I got one of my lights working with three out of the five LR1130s on the 30-pack of assorted button cells I got from a pound shop before. The trouble is I feel guilty about binning the other 25 batteries just to get the ones I need. It's silly. The other route is Amazon, but I can't remember my log-in details with them. I only used them once, when I got a voucher as a gift. Either that or it's back to ebay if I can't find this Swedish mob who looked like a legit on-line shop...Sadly, I REALLY like having these colour-changing lights on my wheels. It's great looking down to see them burning bright in circles, and I feel that in the depths of winter it gives a great deal of additional side visibility at junctions and roundabouts. Plus I'm a massive child, and I like nothing better than upsetting bike snobs by leaving bells, 'dork discs', and wheel reflectors permanently fitted...

It was worth a rant then. UK seller, with a 'proper' UK address and what seems like sensible prices for 'known brand' goods. Winner! I shall take a proper look after I get back from the Goodwood FoS.
Cheers, ALawson!

You need some of these...
You're dead right. I got these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131459695952 they fit beautifully and consequently I will be rocking up to the dynamo with my flaming chariots, superglue seems to be working well on the one my 2yr old broke.I also bought one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122013838778
Now pondering luggage options:-
- travel light
- use my old specialized allez which has rack mountings and a single pannier (big plus being I have all the kit)
- try to fit the rack to the colnago with pclips (may damage carbon or offend the rules?)
- justify purchase of big saddle bag (I do commute a fair bit on the colnago)
- gruffy style frame mounted luggage

usual tools and tubes, waterproof, money will be enough; maybe another layer if forecast is cool.

My original plan was to get there early and have a meal with the family about 6ish before setting off, but a mate has announced he's having a BBQ for his 40th so I'm going to try and squeeze in an appearance there, fill up on burgers, then head into town for about 8pm. How well that plan is executed remains to be seen...
No idea what sort of speed I'll manage. A normal 50-80 mile club ride would be at about 17mph but I know the DD, flatter but longer and in the dark, will be slower than that!
