I'll be at Ipswich station on Saturday at around 2pm getting on a train to London where I can chill out for a bit, get some food and meet you all wherever you decide to meet up. I'll have plenty of time to get there!

I've usually done this with my brother but as he's going to Hong Kong on the Sunday he's decided not to do it.

As he let me know quite late, I thought I might not do it due to the hasle of getting home...but I did somehow manage to get a coach ticket even though they'd sold out.

I'm still not 100% committed yet as my left knee was twitching a bit after riding fixed on the weekend and I haven't done much riding at all. If it feels ok by the end of the week, I'll be up for it.

It'll be my 5th one on the trot! 😊

If I didn't feel a twitch in my knee/ankle/back there would be something wrong wink Just take it easy and don't follow JustinF down any hills!

This is a great fun ride and should be enjoyed, not rushed
Oh yes, I'm in no rush. My support vehicle probably won't make it to the beach until 7am at the earliest so even 12mph would see me there in plenty of time.

Looking forward to the crack on the way, taking the foot off the gas and no hills of any note should allow for a bit more of a chat than normal

Ah, so you've followed Justin in his favourite shorts before then.

That pub last year was alright. We rolled our bikes through the bar into the garden

loudlashadjuster I have a similar meeting time for my pick up so planning to potter and chat.

On that note I'm not sure what to wear for this ride (girl problems!) on a slow ride I'd not normally bother with bibs and just go with padded shorts under a pair of chinos/shorts but at this kind of distance that might not be the best idea. On the other hand I don't want to turn up pretending to be a racing snake and then head off into the cold and dark at granny speed.

WhatsApp sounds like the best approach, email is a bit clunky.

anyone use the Real-Time GPS Tracker 2 app on android from greenalp?
Sixpotbelly put me on to it and it's my way of keeping track of jr in the dark, would also be handy for meeting at the start and potentially on the ride.

I've tried to find one for Windows but can't get it to work as I'd like.

As it stands I don't even know which area of london I'm heading to yet, I might end up riding around lost until I see a large group of cyclists.

I'm using one of these:

Not very cool but will keep my phone & a 12,000 mAh USB battery in there. Will charge phone constantly so it won't run out of charge, plus top up anything else I (or others) might need

Despite never having any real problems with my knees etc. I predictably managed to pick up some weird pain in my right knee 15 miles in to the last longish ride I'll manage before the DD, a 60 miler on Saturday.

I've done over 2,000 miles with the exact same seat, bars position etc., so I'm not sure what caused it, especially so close to the start of a ride that didn't have any real gnarly (>15%) climbs.

It's not noticeable when walking but I trundled a mile or so with the kids to a BBQ yesterday afternoon and I could feel it then.

I'm not in a huge amount of pain and I managed to get round without it getting much worse but there is definitely some mild swelling there today.

Here's hoping it calms down before the weekend.
