I'm off to Worcester in a couple of weeks on a course. I'll be free after 4.45pm every day so may as well get some miles in as I have a sportive the weekend I get home.

So what should I expect? Hilly? Flat? Loads of traffic?

I'm staying on the outskirts near M5, jct 6. Anywhere in particular I should be heading?
Would like to do at least 20 miles a night but probably 30+.
Happy to do less miles but lots of climbing.

Anyway, I'm having a look round online but welcome any local knowledge.
I usually ride on stunning deserted Northumberland B roads that are like our own private cycle tracks. We pass 4 or 5 cars in 30-40 miles.

From where you are, you need the offerton road which takes you out to the villages and you'll find lots of nice country roads taking you out round the villages of Crowle, tibberton, Himbleton. For the distance you want to do look on the map and aim for hanbury and inkberrow; you can do some pleasant routes round there and avoid the traffic.

Excellent, exactly the type of info I was hoping for. I'll look up those places on my desktop tonight and plan some routes.
I'm not really one for much planning but as long as I know the main places to head for I'm happy to go off and explore.

Cheers popey. thumbup

This is good advice from the north of Worcester but what you will find is that it isn't particularly hilly. The Malverns have some decent climbs but to get there from J6 you need to go through Worcester which I wouldn't fancy myself. Maybe drive over that direction and then ride if you've got a car with you?

Head East towards Pershore through the lanes, loop around Bredon Hill towards Broadway and then up on to the Cotswolds via some serious climbs like Snowshill. 2.5-3 hr roundtrip. Safe roads, lots of fellow cyclists on them too.

Narrow boats!

Just thought I'd update this. Thanks for the info lads. I headed out tonight by running across the M5 roundabout, bike in hand and found Offerton lane. I headed north for a few miles then passed under the M5 and headed east through places like Himbleton, Flyford Flavell then onto Evesham then headed back via Hill Furze? Naunton Beauchamp etc.

37 wet and windy miles but great fun. I had a deer jump out right in front of me near Himbleton too. Great to see.
Cheers.
