The bottom bracket on my 400 mile Boardman pro carbon SLR pro has started to creak like mad when I stand on the pedals. I took it back to Halfords who of course said it was normal and that they all do that. Any thoughts on what can be done?

As best i can tell it's a Shimano Ultegra crankset with a PF30 bottom bracket with FSA EE085 reducers/spacers.

They use an FSA Pressfit type BB, with external spindle reducers, to allow the Holowtech II cranks to fit. These have a habit of walking the bearings out of true. You need a proper Praxis type adapter, then make sure the clips behind the bearings are seated, then replace the properly adapted arrangement back into the frame, making sure the bearings are seated flat. Then torque up the cranks.

I had some awful noises coming from my bottom bracket area recently (or at least sounded like it) it was actually my rear wheel not tight enough / seated properly.

I found this out after replacing my BB and almost buying new cranks.

OK, took things apart today and found some corrosion and moisture on the non-drive bearing surface where it mates with the adapter. Come to think of it the creaking did start after getting caught out in the rain. Dried, cleaned and lightly greased the mating surfaces and peaceful riding is back.
