In an effort to lose some timber around the middle, I started cycling to and from work a few months ago, a total distance each day of about 30 miles. I can safely say that I've caught the bug.

As my weight decreases and fitness improves, I've found myself now wanting to get out at the weekend for some longer rides but don't want to use my daily.

I'm going to utilize my company's C2W scheme and buy a summer only commute that can also satisfy the weekend urge. The current cyclocross hack will get used during during the winter and during bad weather. However, the more I look, the more deals and bargains I find that only make my decision harder. My location doesnt really lend itself to test rides.

If anyone could lend some assistance or thoughts on any of the options that I currently have would be most welcome.

Was looking around the £750/£800 mark but not overly fussed. I'm about 6'4 and 205lb (coming down slowly) so not overly fussed about out and out weight of the bike, just needs to be sturdy. Thanks

At that price, the pinnacle is a steal. They are good bikes but people get snobby and think of them as Evans' own brand. They are well finished frames, the welds are better than most others at that price, good spec on that one, full carbon fork and shop support. At that price it's hardly worth the hassle of C2W!

I'd accept all of 5 minutes hassle to save £250+ by using the scheme..

PX London Road with hydraulic disc brakes and Rival 22 might be worth a look, £999 I think.
Obviously it's a bit of budget creep but that's a fairly mighty amount of bike for the money.
