So I thought I'd head that way this month and surprised to see the uplifts fully booked into August, as a result I booked myself on to the uplift for the day in the 22nd July. I wondered if any one would be interested in signing up for the same day so the bus has a few Piston Headers on it?

It's ideal for mixed abilities as bus up together and pick what you like at the top and meet again at the bottom. For those hitting the black runs alway good to have a buddy as well.

Anyone interested?

Cool let me know - sure you'll love it can't think of a reason anyone wouldn't, well maybe if pure XC is your bag it may not be ideal but I think it's one of those places that if you are tempted to try it then you'll likely love it.

Sounds good, I haven't been up there yet either. Only have an ancient old hard tail Specialized Rockhopper but it lasted me well living in Switzerland for 6 years and biking there (although could be tempted to hire one of their full suspensions to try out).

If your old Rockhopper is a trusted entity then I'd make sure it was in full working order and take it on the blue runs and see how you fair. My lads are 12 and 14 and by no mean MTB experts but they enjoyed the blue runs and some of the reds.

Well fun day, I did concuss myself on the 3rd run of the day; my 1st time down The A470 line - rest of the day I was a bit out of sorts and fell off again going off the drop off into Bonneyville which was just rubbish as I'd ridden it fine a few times before on the day. Good news for you guys I had a helmet cam on so you get to laugh at me headbutting the ground and cartwheeling through the air.

Ah sorry about that, yes they say that lots of expletives make it hurt less :-)

Concussion, stiff neck, sore throat, minor chipped tooth, cut up knee & lots of big bruises basically everywhere but nothing that I'll notice in a weeks time. Bike fortunately fine :-)

Top crash!
I've had a couple of good crashes at BPW.

Here's one on Enter the Dragon of me landing fully on my head on a fairly innocuous rock drop having cleared all the big jumps and gaps at the top of the line. CONTAINS SWEARING!

Here's another from a couple of weeks ago of me cocking up the big step up on Zut Alors. No swearing this time but I lost the use of my right arm for the rest of the day!

Back there a week today - can't wait, even though I have a fairly big accident each time.

What gets me is the crashes are almost always on the innocuous stuff you are not bothered about riding, when you get to a big feature for the 1st time you may stop, look at it think, hum, unsure but will give it a go, you ride it no sweat, then fall off on an easy bit you've done 10 times before without a worry.

Never a truer word spoken.
I demonstrated that on the enter the dragon crash - I was so focussed on clearing the big gap step down that I took my eye off the ball and binned it on the very next feature!

My worst accident (so far) was over a pissy 8 foot gap where I just didn't concentrate. 5 broken ribs, cracked sternum, collapsed lung and 5 days in hopsital ensured that I paid it proper attention the next time I rode it.

I've got away with a lot at BPW by having a full face lid on - which is fine on an uplift day. These days i also wear a neck brace as my ambition consistently exceeds my ability! headache

I had my full face and upper body armour in the car, I decided not to put it on and instead take it easy just riding the reds and few easy bits of black, keep the risk low as on my own..

Oh, you want to see a really lame crash at BPW? This is on the A470, I must have just not noticed the drop-off. I actually knocked myself out briefly, because the first thing I said to my mate was "where am I?". He freaked out.

To be fair that drop comes up on you and you can't really see whats immediately after it, from what I remember its a tight turn with roots sticking out from the right and easy to get wrong, one of those you need to be going fast enough to clear but not so fast you can't make the turn.
