Don't get caught speeding, they'll confiscate your bike and make you ear snails.

yes
Is this the start of a possible PH cycle trip to LM24H 2016?

That is monumental!

You have to blag a PH jersey from somewhere, get stickers on your bike and make sure they are aware of you at the PH enclosure when you get there!

Good luck.

I'm in Southampton and can give you a large jersey if you are passing?

Or depending on the time of the ferry I could drop it down to you even.

Cinema. Last film. Wait till the end. Slink down in seat till lights go off. Snore away, private room till morning.

This thought did occur back in the winter. I can't find it now but I drew up a version of the Tour jersey with gulf blue and the Pistonheads script in white on an orange stripe. Martini stripes could be very dramatic. Also loved the idea of a JPS version, an Aston Martin Green + Yellow Trim version, Ferrari Red and Marlboro stripes (which would probably look like Rapha's data print jersey now). Minimum quantities might scupper things though, or at least make it expensive.

I'm well up for PH cycles to Lemans, especially if they have a 4x4/estate/van on fleet next year to transport our stuff.
Rothmans, JPS etc livery would have great ironic value for a cycle group.

Wow - that would be amazing! I think I need to be leaving by about 8pm to make the 22:45 boat

I won't be going through Southampton, but it would be so great to have a jersey.

Co-incidentally it seems according to google it's 28 mins drive between my place and T.Wells and takes the same time between Southampton and Portsmouth.

Lowest impact to all concerned might be for me to meet JustinF half-way. Perhaps at www.sussexcaravancentre.co.uk on the A264 (TN8 7EA). I'll pm him.

Getting excited now - in 24hrs time I'll be on the boat!

This needs cross linking to the Le Mans section so 4 wheeled travellers can keep an eye out for you!

The only thing better than cycling to Le Mans would be somehow getting onto the course before or after the race and setting our own ITT times for one lap round it!

Good Luck idiotgap. Looking forward to reading your write up when you get back! smile

Still a work in progress... but here's a first photo of my ride!

It's a 2009 Specialized Allez Sport with full 9sp tiagra bought approx 1yr ago to try out cycling. I paid £200 including spesh helmet, spesh shoes, tri-bars and a blackburn mini-pump. Since then over time it's had a new lh shifter (2nd hand), new cassette (old one was a silly 11-23) and a pair of gatorskins. I've covered about 2k km on it.

As of this morning it has approx 1kg insulation tape martini style.
