Anyone found a good gpx or garmin file for the route? The official website doesn't seem to have one.

Well, I will inexplicably be on my tod now, as m'colleague has totally bottled it (don't ask, I can't explain it any better than you could) . Anyone in the wave leaving at 7.30 sees a lonely looking bloke is in cheap as chips Belkin shorts and a Wye Valley Brewery jersey do come and say hello

If he'd like someone to buy his place off him...
Got in via the charity route - I said I'd join him and now am left holding the baby on this one! It may be possible, but need to commit to raising money, which may not float your boat

Also, thanks for the route - going past Brooklands, top Pistonheads points

I'm out. Just completed the withdrawal form. I've hurt my wrist and not been able to ride/train/lift for a bit...

Gutted but know I'm making the sensible decision.

I'll be able to take it all in as a spectator as I've got a non-refundable hotel booked so will enjoy that.

Dizeee, ALawson, and any other PHers starting early, are we trying to rendezvous on the way in?
I'm in the 6:06 wave, being dropped off at the Blackwall tunnel some time before...happy to meet up en-route?

It's not the raising money that wouldn't float my boat but the motive. If it would entail bothering family, friends and colleagues and getting them to pay so I could do something I like doing, for free, then I'll pass.

But if he committed to a charity that he'd ride it and raise money for them then ride it and raise money for them he should, short of serious injury, war or act of God. Tell him some bloke off a forum said so.

(It has been said I can be quite opinionated. Don't know what gives people that idea...)

I have informed him that he has quit at the first sign of trouble eg: balking at training/his fund raising target and that it is not a particularly impressive quality. Especially as this was allegedly a charity close to their heart...anyway.

I am pushing on because I said I would. Any shortfall in sponsorship I have accepted I will have to make up out of my own pocket.

Thanks, but that's not quite what i need. I have found what looks like a cleaner course on ridewithgps but I'll need to check it for accuracy this year.

I'm riding in from London Bridge, crossing either Tower Bridge or Rotherhithe Tunnel and aiming to la-la-la my way into a 6am-ish start. I guess the south side of Tower Bridge would make a good RV point for anybody wanting to meet up from the south or south west?

I am looking at planning my route in, as it looks like the roads to the north of Tower Bridge are closed (staying on Great Dover Street), I was going to go through the Rotherhide Tunnel and along the A11 to the access point D on the plan they provide and hope the rest would be self evident

I went that way the first year, it was fine. There will be loads of other bikes all going the same way, you probably won't need signs.

Looks ideal. BBC currently showing 14°C and 5mph wind on Sunday morning. That'd be nice.
Hi Darren, yes would be great to meet. I am staying in Kennington and am currently reviewing my route to the start. I am looking at doing Westeminster Bridge, then Embankment all the way to Tower Bridge, then nipping up to the A11 Whitechapel Road and riding East all the way to the park. Will probably leave Kennington at 0430 ish which would give me an hour, should be more than enough time.

What I am unsure of is where best to approach the park from by bike as closures will be in. My plan so far is to head to Waterden Road via Fairfield Road off the A11 and shortcut through the back roads to get there.

Done. South side of Tower Bridge at 04:30. I'm sure I read somewhere that the road closures are from 5am so it should be easy enough to ride in.

Yes, plus I also just called them, and you can cross parts of the route anyway so even if they go in thick and fast we should be able to cirumnavigate.

See you at 0430 sharp! ( I am always early never late !)
