As per title really does anyine have any experience, thoughts, oppinions on Beacon bikes (www.beaconfell.com)?

As it looms like the Scott is unrepairable this might be any option for a replacement so trying to guage peoples oppinions.

I was looking at their website the other day & they seem very expensive, they do look nice though ,

I know the owner, and the guys in the workshop. Darren is a lovely fella, and Spike and his team are as good a set of mechanics as you'll find anywhere. A number of the workshop guys have worked on the British National Team as mechanics in the past. As a local bike shop you won't find better.

But what about the bikes? Sound like they have decent support though.

I was also looking at their bikes. Yes, they are expensive compared to the like of Planet X for base models, but I'm guessing their are aiming at a different market.

Davina McColl used Beacon bikes for her comic relief challenge. I quite liked the look of the bike (Wasn't bothered by Davina!)

The frames are fabricated in the Far East (as they all are). The bits screwed to them are generic Shimano, Campag etc. They have been well developed by a team who know what they are doing, rather than an open mould purchased over the internet which many are. Pop down and have a chat to the guys and draw your own conclusions.

At 300 miles round trip it's a bit more than a simple pop down and have a chat!!

What I quite like the thought/sound of is that the frame is made per order after a bike fit, so i'm reading that as they tweak the geo to suit each person and not simply say "you're a 56" and then adjust the stems, seat posts to you.
