Electric gears - have you?
Discussion
I am seeing more and more people with these now
Mostly ultegra, a few Dura Ace
Haven't yet seen, in real life on a bike that is being ridden by someone, any of the campag range
So, have you taken the plunge already? Which ones did you consider and which ones did you end up with?
How are you finding them?

I've had Ulterga Di2 for a couple of weeks. Shifting is great and it just works very well, for some reason I keep pressing the wrong buttons even though they're positioned the same way as cable shifters.
I found that when I first moved to it for some reason, no problem now though. Just takes a bit of getting used to. Been running electric since 2012, have Ui2 on my AiR - Ultegra 6770, and Dura-ace 9070 on my Madone and Parlee.
I’m a convert, the overall shift quality / ability to block change the whole cassette / change under load; coupled with reliability (not had a battery issue) – outweigh the downsides I’ve encountered.
1) Integration with Q Rings is a pain in ar$e. Set-up of the front mech is notoriously fickle and probably requires adjustment every few hundred miles. Tried several potential fixes (including mix of rings – but the problem has persisted across compact, mid and standard ringsets; AND more than one front mech.
2) The shifter arm / metal deraileur thingy appears to be made of tinfoil. I’ve managed to bend one that meant replacing the whole unit. To be fair, it maybe the mechanical arm is made of the same stuff; but appears I bent mine in transit as I packed the bike badly and it constantly engaged the shift mechanism (probably worth disconnecting it in future).
Now, I’m the first to admit I’m not mechanically minded so this may be a contributing factor, but running Q / ovalised cranks appears to be a common problem. I’ve kind of resigned myself that Qs are too much of a faff and will run either no Q’s or the Praxis cranks / rings going forward.

I love my technology but haven't 'cracked and gone for Di2. The lads I ride with that have it have nothing bad to say about it ... in fact they're generally gushing, the only reason I've not tried it is probably because I will then HAVE to buy it for two bikes and it then becomes pretty expensive. I suppose the other hesitation is breaking levers or mechs when crashing ... DA mechanical is hardly cheap but replacing the equivalent Di2 items would be painful.
That said, I think I'll probably wait until the next new bike before I give it a whirl

Do the rear derailleurs self adjust so they're always perfectly indexed?
They don't need to - you set it up the first time, and thats it - as long as you don't change anything then it just always works - no cable to stretch, no loss of adjustment. I have it on my road bike and my TT bike (Ultegra) and its just brilliant.
