Update

Distance 5,526.8 km
Time 246h 45m
Elev Gain 68,978 m
Rides 168

Looks like I've only done 1500km since July? Hoping to make 8k km again this year, although with autumn coming it's looking a challenge.

I've also noticed on a ride in Positano with two mates, I climbed 4400m, one climbed 3700m and the other only 700m. I know altitude is notoriously inaccurate with Garmin and Strava, but that's mental!

switch to the trainer
nono You've got a winter bike now no? Stay out there!
The plan is to set one up on the trainer and keep the other ready to roll.

I'm thinking two 90 minute turbo sessions and one 3-hour road ride a week. The TrainerRoad plans I followed last winter had 3 hour turbo sessions once a week but I found it a real mental struggle to do those. I wouldn't want to miss riding on those wonderful high pressure winter days when the sky's clear and the wind's light but stuff the lows when it's grey, windy and wet.

You say that but if your recording 'honestly', as in recording everything including easy days, commutes and the warm up / warm down either side: then your overall average may be lower than you would like.

My overall is only 16 and a bit mph but I know from monitoring my averages while riding that mid-session I'll be averaging 19/20mph.

Also if comparing against others: beware the 'Selective-Strava-Uploaders', it would appear that some people like to edit out or not even record the warm ups etc. leaving only the fast rides... wink

(plus isn't some of your riding is off road?! which is naturally 'slower' - but requires as much, if not more effort!)

Well, when you put it like that, I feel better about it. I don't really compare myself to other riders in any serious fashion. I only really use Strava to keep track of my mileage and climbing, and to challenge and motivate myself.
So yes, I record everything. Garmin goes on just round the corner from my house (additional security extra to the Strava 'hidden areas') and gets turned off when I get back to the same spot on the way home. It includes all rides, on all bikes. MTB, my 'ghetto cyclocross' steel road bike, and the carbon wonder-bike. And as you rightly point out, it's the on road, off road, 'gunning it', pootling to the library rides. The 'nip to the shop' ride all the way up to a 113 mile homage to the RideLondon event. I just love to ride my bike really, and I'm chuffed to have exceeded the combined total for both of the previous two years I've been recording my rides on Strava

Up about 1,100 miles on last year so far with an average ride distance of 40 miles and average speed of 18.61 mph. Guess I'll end up having done 7,000 - 7,200 miles by Xmas.

Veloviewer does give you overall averages - apparently my avg speed over 38,000 miles over the last 4 years is 17.9 MPH, but I've had a couple of months where overall average has been over 20, probably owing to more time trials etc.

Very nearly at 4,500 miles. Which is more than 2½ times my previous best "Strava year". I think it's probably my biggest ever annual mileage too. Maybe I will make it to 5,000 miles by the end of the year. A nice round figure.

My Target was 2500 for this year, my average has dropped to 40miles / week in the last month so need to start increasing that again then I should easily hit 3000 and maybe double my last years total of 1591 (which I did in 171 rides)

Distance 2,685.1 mi
Time 213h 40m
Elev Gain 33,238 ft
Rides 128

circa 600 road bike miles, the rest is MTB.

Im hoping to commute by bike more next Spring / Summer once or twice a week (50 mile round trip) so I may set myself a 4k target for 2016...

Happy so far, especially as I'm ahead of where I was this time last, aiming for 7000 by end of the year.
