He does sound like an addict who doesn't enjoy it at all anymore. One of those miserable looking roadies I often see about, too pro to wave or even muster half a smile. Why the F are you even doing it?

I prescribe an off road bike, some dusty trails, woods and nature and just getting off the road for a bit.

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park?

Seriously though, unless you're after a specific time, with over 4k in your legs this year, it's not going to be that bad.

I was hoping for around the 4 hour mark but we shall see on the day. All depends how lucky I get with a group e.t.c.

Total miles little disappointing at 2415 miles so far - barely above last year.. However, there have been some definite hilights:
- 5:29 ironman bike split (112 miles) - very happy with that considering it was paced fairly easy to allow for the little run off the back.
- Finally got around to the double century ride (actually 225 miles)

RideLondon.. will be interesting. Blitzed it last year, but got a team entry and had about 6 very fast people working hard and well together; absolutely magical riding, and completely knackering. Individual entry this year and no 'known fast' folks starting with me so will have to freelance / work packs as best I can. Not sure how that's going to go, probably a bit scary..

All elevation figures are basically crap, don't worry about it. Very detailed analysis here http://regex.info/blog/2015-05-09/2568 just in case that cheers you up Dizee.

@Vocal minority - why abuse? So long as you're not going to have a go at the folks who want to take the chance of closed roads to batter themselves & go as fast as possible; room for all no?

Why don't you use elevation correction in strava then? confused
If you use Strava's correction tool on GPS data in UK, it often actually robs you of elevation. Whereas in most countries, correction adds metres. I didn't know until it was explained to me in a discussion in the 'Honest Climbers' club on Strava...

Surely not going to be 40% off though.

I know it's a bit optimistic. Would need a very disciplined group to achieve it I think, if I could even achieve it.

I know a couple of riding buddies who did it last year around the 23/24 average so will see.

I'm going to try and get my first 30kph moving avg in RL. No chance with my usually fairly hilly (87ft/mile in Sussex) solo riding.

Will have hit 100,000m (328,000ft) by then, so on target for 100miles up for the year.

Averaged 22 last year, but over only 87 miles, riding with a good group (out to the bottom of the newlands corner climb) and more importantly with NO (serious) HILLS as it was shortened by cutting out the lumpy bits..

I'd like to get around in about 4:30.. will depend a lot on groups etc. When are you starting?

Off at 06:09 - obviously a bit flexible / see on the day, but if you want to can keep an eye out and see if we can work together.

Farily vanilla looking black/red Scott CR1, probably with hed wheels on it.. ful-on-tri top (there will probably be a few!) predominantly black/white with a yellow band across the chest/shoulders with ful-on tri written on the band. Don't worry, unlike many triathletes I can actually ride in a straight line ;-)

You?

Which isn't bad by my standards - I've had a 500km month, which is a first in the three years I've been using Strava, and posted my longest ride in the last three years, too, albeit only just over 100km.

I need to get out more on weekday evenings.

Looking more and more like its going to be italian colours on black. Im a stickler for colour coding. The bike is one of those cheap re branded Taiwanese jobbies with De Rosa written on it.

Mine copied / pasted :

Avg Rides / Week 2
Avg Distance / Week 21 mi
Avg Time / Week 1h 52m

2015
Distance 657.2 mi
Time 49h 8m
Elev Gain 23,533 ft
Rides 86

All-Time
Distance 1,304.5 mi
Rides 175
Biggest Ride 30.3 mi
Biggest Climb 448ft

Only started using strava last September, had a 4 month break due to a nasty off, then the Mrs tore her meniscus cartilage meaning I've had to act as a taxi service, curbing commuting opportunity. Still, off to the Pyrenees next week so the HT will get some more mileage then!
