1500 miles so far this year. 1000 of them were between Jan 1st and Feb 10th. Breaking my hip seems to have slowed my progress somewhat.

Only got my bike feb this year and really enjoying it. Mountain bike so mainly canal/forest trails,parks etc. I'm not that bothered about distance covered but would be happy if I could get it to 1000 by the end of the year!

My target was 2500miles, may have to up that soon!

Should hit 2000 miles by End of July (Friday)

Distance 1,973.6 mi
Time 159h 52m
Elev Gain 24,980 ft
Rides 97

Pretty much 75% MTB and 25% Road

Smashed last years 1500 miles already.

May start commuting occasionally when my work location changes at the end of the month.

I honestly don't know how you huge mileage boys do it.

I know that this is very un-pedal powered as an attitude, but I have done 2100 miles or so of riding this year, and after the RideLondon on Sunday, I honestly cannot wait to see the back of the fking bicycle for a bit.

I am so bored to tears it is unreal. I am currently going out because I feel I have to, not because I want to. I am getting fitter and getting quicker, and to be honest at the moment I am struggling to give a st about either!

I am sure I will change my mind after a couple of weeks, but if I had done twice the milage I have done this year (like many on here have) I am pretty sure I would have tried to set light to my bike by now.

Sorry - I needed to get that off my chest.

I've done similar. 3350miles. The vast majority of it is commuting (on excellent, rural routes and far more pleasant than driving the motorway route). I need to squeeze activities in between family responsibilities and have managed to maintain cycling, increase running and gym sessions. I am as keen as ever.

I feel a little like this sometimes at the moment, I enjoy the thought of going out but sometimes when I'm out, I loose the enjoyment a little, maybe its the fact I am riding the same routes over and over, maybe its the fact my Brother is quicker than me currently and I feel like I am getting left all the time, he is riding a Suitable 29er for the route we do where I am riding my 8year old 26" Long Travel Hardtail which at points feels like a chore to ride compared to my 29er which I must get fixed. I had thought a new bike would help.... or maybe I need to find some new places to ride.

So how are people doing then?
Was away for the month of August so zero miles for a month hasn't helped my numbers!

Distance: 594.0 mi
Time: 47h 36m
Elev Gain: 15,418 ft
Rides: 78
Longest Ride: 23.8 miles

I'm mostly commuting this year, so its short and regular rather than the long, fun rides of 2014 but still enjoying getting on the bike!
I'm over 1000km down on this time last year, but have done almost the same number of rides.

209 rides
199865ft
4131miles

Biggest climb 2946ft (Col de Madone)!

I'm surprised at my distance as big numbers wasn't my target this year, it was quality not quantity.

938 of those miles are on the turbo (which obviously have zero ascent) so the 300'000ft of climbing is over 3946 miles, so 76 feet per mile average. Difficult to avoid hills in Yorkshire.

Riding has ground to a halt. I fear I have put on weight too as I wobble now and feel heavy and bloated.

I have to dedicate the rest of the year to heavy house refurbishment so I won't be doing anything decent in the way of cycling until next year. Managed 5k miles this year so far and that will have to do. Start again in 2016.

2700km, 20000m climbed in 92 hours over 66 rides. New job has put paid to any high mileage ambitions...

Chapeau to you all!

My update for this thread...

Distance = 3,663.2 mi
Time = 269h 3m
Elev Gain = 180,197 ft
Rides = 115

...my previous two years since joining Strava I'd not broken through 2,000 miles in a year. So I'm very happy with the figures right now.

Climbing is about 50ft per mile, if I've done me sums right. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I could probably half that figure if I sought out flatter routes locally.

Your sailing dude, doing really well. Your Strava lately is impressive, I won't be able to match that time in the saddle until next year. I plan to hit 2016 hard though. It will be my first proper "rest" from the bike in around 3 years so who knows where that will leave me!

I completely lost motivation to ride for most of August, especially the road bike. A combination of boredom of the same roads, weather and having things to do around the house. Summer is never my best time for mileage anyway, normally due to more social commitments at weekends etc. Hoping for 5k by the end of the year.

Injuries - 2 slipped discs, 1 broken toe, 1 cracked rib .....
Time off bike - will be approx 12wks in total just for these without travel.

I was nearly back on target to hit 6500kms after 8wks off the bike for the slipped discs and then broke the toe and rib, now off the bike again. Only bright side is I'm travelling a lot currently in Europe and Asia in September so would be riding a lot less anyway.

August was a wash out in terms of riding with injury and travel. September will be a complete blank, so hoping the rib in particular is able to take me chasing back the distance in October and November. December will involve moving to another country on the other side of the world, so packing, general sorting and moving will knacker the run in to the end of the year, but I'm still hopeful to hit target. I will miss the target for elevation of 45,000m though.... Just under 6m per km, but that's not bad for Singapore!
