Do come and say hi, I'll be in a ph shirt but the other three guys I'm turning up with won't be. I'm suspecting a couple of us in our group might wuss out of taking the Epic path at the parting of the ways so you might have more company than you bargained for.
Spot on, thanks for that. Any ideas what time are you looking to get there/head off?stepaway said:
Sorry, just read your post above. I've got to sign on/pay etc and get across from Bedford, so will do my best to get there for 7 ish unless your plans have changed for a later start?
We're aiming to try and start as early as we can really, so will be aiming to get there at about 7:20.FAO stepaway

If anyone wants a ticket then let me know as I've decided that I'm not going to ride it, not ridden for 9weeks and feeling it, so think it foolish that the 1st time I get on the bike after such a lay off I set out for an 86 miler!!
Even if you'd planned to do the standard route, you should 'be' Marcellus for sign-on and then just ride the standard.Right then, all sorted, I think, for the morning. The extra hour in bed will be handy tonight as I'll be on the road at 5:30 in the morning to travel up.
Not sure what the general feeling is but, all up for a 8am departure? Gruffy and myself will be hanging around somewhere near the start line for the rest of you. I'll be donning my PH clobber.

Bugger, my plans to ride (most of) the course have been scuppered by my youngest having a B'day party to go to at 11 meaning I'm under strict instructions to be back in time to look after eldest.
I'm 15 miles into the route so will probably stumble out soon before 9 and ride 'some' of it. Will look out for any PH tops - I'll be in a flouro yellow Twenty3c jersey.
I rode most of the back end of the epic course last weekend - was a fair bit of mud on some of the roads, but was all dried and compacted then. Had a fair bit of rain over the week though so could be a bit grotty in places.

Hi everyone - apologies but I had to get going this morning as I wasn't dressed quite well enough to keep warm whilst standing around. Got to the event pretty early and hate standing around,so although I bumped into idiotgap I got going as soon as they opened the gate.
Hope you all had a great ride, weather was superb once the sun had come up properly, but the roads were pretty treacherous in places with the mud and wet leaves, I felt my front wheel go a couple of times which was pretty unnerving.
Marcellus - sorry mate, this was my second sportive, and I wasn't quite sure how the sign on worked at the wiggle events so it didn't quite work out as I planned for me to ride in your place so had to get my own ticket
With the benefit of hindsight I could have talked my way through it I'm sure!

Good call. Far too cold to be waiting for people! We didn't get going until 8:45 in the end anyway.I caught up with Broster en route, which is now becoming a tradition. Didn't spot any PH jerseys though - probably set off too late.

Happy with my ride, given the wind today. Climbing a bit better than last year. Would've been a bit quicker if I hadn't fouled up the navigation through Silverstone.
M3John coming into the finish.
Think I was out before anyone came through my village - although still too late for me to avoid a b*****king from my wife for making them 'pushed for time' (not late...) for the Birthday party.
Was wondering who it was that had the same time to the second on a 40min+ segment, and it turns out to be Gruffy - cracking average for your ride there.
