After playing all kind of sports all my life my knees are pretty much shot to pieces, i can easily cycle 100 miles but i couldn't run 100 paces, there comes a time when you realize that you have to do some kind of exercise unless you just want to let yourself go, Cycling & swimming are about the only forms of exercise i can do being in my early 50's. I'm a big chap & i love cycling & yes i wear lycra shorts & i probably do look like a plum. But i'm really not bothered what other people think . I think middle aged men that wish to keep fit should be applauded rather than sneered at.

Sorry, but that is quite funny. Lycra is about as hard to put on as a normal pair of trousers. Is this something that you struggle with?? Sat on a train in my MTB shorts and high viz rain jacket. Couldn't care less what anyone else thinks...
