Don't talk crap - at one point the cyclist even admits he's winding him up.

Both knobs. Judging by his youtube account that cyclist is the kind of cyclist that feels very strongly about the way people drive on the road. So do I, as a car driver and former cyclist. But filming everyone who passes within a few feet of him and behaving like a holier than thou cock (on at least 1 of his videos he's cycling in the middle of the lane and then having a go at someone for driving too close when all the guy wants to do is get past).

He carries on like that he'll end up with someone doing him damage. And at the moment he's not exactly promoting cyclists in a good light either.

Lol, I think you mean the driver isn't exactly 'promoting driving in a good light'.

So if you nearly get killed by some impatient knucklehead in their car you wouldn't feel angry about it? I've been past a couple of times by drivers like this with inches to spare while accelerating and I can totally understand why you would chase the driver to have a word (or alternatively drag said driver from car to perform a kerbstomp on face). It is funny but also worrying that people like this drive cars.

I commute thousands of miles a year on the rad. The pass was close ish but from what I've seen it would have provoked a head shake from me rather than anything more furious or aggressive. I also challenge drivers when they drive dangerously (and for that reason I don't wear spd shoes anymore in case it have to get off the bike and tango on the pavement which I have nearly had to do a couple of time now) but I wouldn't have challenged the driver, myself, for that particular pass.

I also think that the use of these cameras empowers cyclists to think they can wind a driver up, and probably doesn't help in diffusing the situation when it gets to situation critical.we all want to get to where we are going quickly and safely and quite frankly if you stop and challenge every minor incident, especially in London, you'd never get to your destination!

If you read what I said - I said they were BOTH knobs. The driver clearly got what he deserved, falling flat on his face. If a cyclist was winding me up in that whiny voice constantly I'd have given him a mouthful back but he clearly went way over the boundaries. But then the cyclist knew exactly what he was doing. Before running/cycling away.

Did he nearly get killed? No, he didn't. I see similar as a pedestrian most days in London. Rarely do I see a cyclist going after the driver. If you think its understandable a cyclist would "drag said driver from car to perform a kerbstomp on face" then you clearly have an anger management issue too.

As a pedestrian in London for over 30 years I have been hit by a cyclist and had several near misses - none with cars. Cyclists that other cyclists have shook their head at. So don't think cyclists are perfect as they're far from it - same as there are bad drivers too.

A single somersault with a half twist. Not impressed - 2.5 out of 6.

He's lucky. Anyone of my racing/sporting mates would have decked him.

Absolutely can't stand cyclists who take up the entire road, forcing drivers to go 5mph, but I hate angry little men who think they're the best driver in the world even more. Cracking video, I've only just stopped laughing! hehe

Why do so many cyclists get such extreme road rage? It's very unhealthy.

That whole thing was utterly unnecessary. In the process he also cut up a pedestrian, another cyclist and then cycled on the pavement laugh, what a paragon of virtue rolleyes
It wasn't even a particularly close pass either. confused

If I got even half that worried about passes that close, I'd have to go back to getting the train to commute to work!

Don't be daft - cyclists don't use helmet cams to bait other road users, they use them as evidence if they are knocked off or attacked by another road user. I use one sometimes on my road bike - someone nearly took me out on a roundabout on Thursday evening and I wished I'd had it running then as it made me realise how close I was to being left a bloody mess in the road with no witnesses to what happened. A friend of mine was run off the road by a taxi a month or so back - not as the consequence of road rage but simply because the taxi driver tried to squeeze past when he shouldn't have. My friend bounced up the kerb and ended up in a sprawled heap on the pavement - the taxi driver didn't stop but luckily my friend only had cuts and bruises. With a helmet cam, the taxi driver could have been identified for not stopping at the scene of an accident. Same reasons that drivers are starting to use them in cars.

It's pretty clear why this cyclist wasn't cycling in the gutter here - there are cars parked either side of the road and he is quite sensibly trying to avoid riding in the "door zone". It was far too close a pass and unnecessary on a residential road like that - presumably a 30mph (or even 20mph) limit and the cyclist would have been doing a lot more than 5 mph. Let's face it, the cyclist caught up with the car driver so the speed differential can't have been great.

Funny how someone trying to kill you with 2 tonnes of metal makes you cross. You see drivers get road rage all the time when it's just some metal and plastic that's at risk of damage - it can hardly be surprising that a cyclist who feels his life has been put in danger reacts with anger.

Having said all that, I am surprised at the reaction of the cyclist - if I chased down every driver who passed far too close, I'd never get to where I'm going. I'm pleased that the driver got his comeuppance - he came across as a fat, stupid, bumptious mouth-breather - and hopefully he'll think twice next time he thinks about a dangerous overtake, but the cyclist did start to escalate the incident and a less angry person would have left it with a shake of the fist and a few choice words at the disappearing car.

Testing the driver's nasal cavities for an SPD fit would have been the perfect outcome.

I bet he created yet another pothole in the road with his face which won't be mended for years.

Well, the cyclist should never have chased him down, that was deeply silly but the driver is clearly a raging mental case.

Firstly- he proudly owns a Peugeot, this alone is grounds for a trip to the funny farm surely?

Next- no seatbelt, death threat, parking on double yellows, attempted theft and assault is sufficient for a visit from the Bib, I have reported someone for less and the Police visited his work and home and read him the riot act so this chump is in line for a cavity search.

Lastly- the kick, trip and fall are comedy gold. I'd wager he hurt himself too which is karma I guess

To paraphrase what was said above, if being self righteous, passive aggressive and antagonistic was a crime, the prisons would be full and the internet strangely quiet.

3.6 million views so far. It has gone viral in the US and probably worldwide.

If this dipstick was to find a cure for all the Worlds illnesses, it would not compensate for the beauty of his pratfall. It's like a tattoo on his face, there for ever.
