It's always been the dopers favourite.

The Spanish lax attitude to doping always results in some shock wins and spectacular racing. hehe
What, you mean Horners win wasn't genuine? :P

Even for the vuelta, it was a bit unexpected.

I quite like his commentary, he certainly knows what he's talking about. Was good fun on the London-Surrey classic watching his commentary coming from the back of a motorbike at the front of the race tongue out

Looks like Tinkoff are leading with Majka, Astana still appear to be taking Landa, Aru and Nibbles... it will be interesting to see who is the highest placed rider after teh first week or so and whether they have to make any changes to the plan. Landa is off to Sky but will want to go well to prove he is a GC contender for them in the future, Aru and Nibbles are hardly best of friends so there is a bit of infighting there too... strong team from Sky though some of those guys must be feeling the fatigue by now.

IIRC last year I couldn't find a hooky stream to watch at work so it will probably be highlights again, but I quite like the ITV4 team.

I like that ITV do proper highlights, unlike Eurosport who just replay the last hour of the live coverage. An hour a day of highlights is about as much as I have time for so works well for me.

Indeed I like the pundits ITV have as well, a good mix

Well I'm really looking forward to the vuelta - it usually serves up spectacular racing.

I'd also put NQ as favorite smile

Whatever happens I would like to see some proper racing between the main GC boys - hopefully the GC race won't be over in the first week wink

All 9 summit finishes are first time finishes, nice touch; most of them have been raced over but never been the finale.

Just flicked over to the team presentation for the Vuelta, there is barely anyone there. Just looks like a field with a stage and a few rows of chairs.

Opening TTT will be interesting, causing lots of debate, sand, temp boarding, wooden bridge, dirt track and finish on the beach.....7.4km.

The TTT has been semi neutralised, meaning classification and time gaps only count for the team standings so no individual GC time gaps will be recorded.

just seen the route on Sky. who ever thought this was a good idea needs a reality check .Its covered in sand and grit from the beach and you can only just get a bike through it no chance of using the team which in a TTT is crazy.
Still looking forward to the race though

TV coverage of the Vuelta often features the peleton riding past miles of crowd barriers with not a soul visible. Apart from the few crazy mountain stages, it tends to be way less supported than the other 2 GTs.

To be honest, this suits me anyway. I've always enjoyed GC as a solo competition, supported by teams. IMO a TTT makes the team part overly influential on the GC standings.

I'm on holiday at the moment on Alhuara (I think) and the roads are closing round here for 24hrs while they come through. We went to a beach yesterday where the team sky buses were preparing and has a nosey round frooms bike and had a quick chat with one if the support dudes.

I don't know much about cycling tbh but I tell you what, it's hot as fk out here (35deg+)..i went for a jog the other day and it's also hilly as fk, I nearly died after 30mins. Cycling quickly round here..... No thank you!
