Going on a course near castleford and was wondering if there is any trail centres or forests near by? I thought gisburn was near until I googled it and 2 hours away so does anyone know of anything a bit closer

You could shoot down the A1 to Sherwood pines. It's a good trail centre with a jump park and downhill section? It would probably still take you an hour to get there though

Or head north. Darby forest is 1:30 from cas

Did a bit looking and found warncliffe woods near Sheffield, is this okay for a peddle

Probably a bit late now but yes, Wharncliffe is very good. Some great trails, both XC and DH what with it being (almost literally) Steve Peat's back garden.

It`s hardly a forest but you have a ride along t`canal all the way to Leeds, have a couple of pints of ale & pop back - actually some nice scenery along the way. You could pop into Woodrups in Leeds or Kendells in Cas if you need any bits, thus avoiding Evans.
