Hope have created a clever remote cable to hydralic reservoir - am quite tempted to get a set on my Kona as the cable disks are a bit pants..

A fair bit cheaper than £1000 di2 hydralic / electric setup.

Just looking on Wiggle, you can get a set of SRAM Rival shifters and calipers for £270. The 105 equivalent should be out in a few months and I guess they would be a similar price.

Obviously assumes you have a compatible 11 speed drivetrain. Although I would still be tempted to see how much a full groupset costs.

Or go for something like a London Road for a grand and sell the Kona.

Only a little. smile

I bought a set recently 2nd hand - I like the look of them and wanted hydraulics instead of mechanical but I can't pull the lever well enough from the hoods to be confident of actually stopping the bike!

Thats exactly what you dont need ! I take it the levers work as a well as a 105 or shimano equiv when shifting?

I've been testing some of these for my local shop, and so far they are great, big improvement over normal cable, not to bulky and the pad adjustment was super easy.

They dont look bad at all, i guess it'd be good to know how they compared against say a sram and Hopes twin v solution..

Have ridden a hope setup and wasn't impressed, which was gutting as I love hope components.

What is weong with the TRP Hy/rd ones?

http://road.cc/content/review/85499-trp-hyrd-mecha...

I have them on my winter / commuter bike and they are excellent. Far better than the avid bb5 that they replaced.

Whoops, was looking at the Shimano set, which is £400 for a pair, and assumed it was the same for Rival (which is sort of 105 level).

Oh well!

These look great, how do they compare to the TRPHy/Rd's? apart from being cheaper!

My 105 5800 shifters and Shimano R785? Hydraulic brakes work just fine, not bad spec for a £1250 cx bike! biggrin

Apparently TRP Spyres and really posh compressionless brake housing results in performance comprable to a hydro setup.

Apparently....

http://gevenalle.com/product-category/shifters/

Ive had their CX shifters for about a year on my 1x10 set up and they work really good. Obviously it's not possible to change gear in the drops but I've not found it a problem. They required no bleeding and come with calipers and disks.

It was cheaper to buy direct from the US than buying though their German distributer.

I had the Gevanelle levers on my cross bike, found that they were fine for tooling around but when racing I was in the drops all the time and the inability to shift became a big problem!

I've now moved to the Shimano R-685, fully hydraulic discs with cable gears.
