27.5 x 2" Continental Tyres required - Help!
Discussion
Hi all
First time posting in here, so please be gentle.
I have been asked by a family member out in India to source some tyres for his bike.
He is after 2 of the following:
Continental Tour Ride
Or
Continental Speed King
In a 27.5 x 2 size
I have tried a couple of local Halfords stores and a shop called Ealing cycles, to no success. Not too sure where else to look.
My last bike was a Raleigh Ascender that my parents bought for me about 20 years ago. I really have zero knowledge of this stuff.
The tyres are needed for next week (8th-11th Sept ), as he is in the UK for then and would like to take them back with him.
Any idea where I can order them from fairly quickly?
Thanks in advance for your help.

You may struggle to get those tyres in the 2 inch profile in time here in the UK.
I'm not entirely sure, but that sort of tyre seems to be available in the 1.5 inch sort of area. Then you move up to more 'knobbly' mountain bike and cyclocross stuff at 2.1 inches upwards.
My regular online tyre supplier has these...
http://nextdaytyres.co.uk/details.aspx/CONTINENTAL... - Tour Ride in 27.5 x 1.65" flavour.
an alternative to the Continental tyres...
http://nextdaytyres.co.uk/details.aspx/SCHWALBE-MA... - Schwalbe Marathon Plus in 27.5 x 1.5" flavour.
Continental's own UK website shows the Speed King as available in 26" and 29" sizes with a 2.2" profile. No mention of a 27.5" version available... http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/ti%20speed...
The choice of sizes for the Tour Ride model is much bigger, but to make sense of the list you might need to get hold of the ETRTO size your friend requires. The 'Imperial' tyre sizes are often interpreted differently by various manufacturers, rounding up, rounding down, or measuring differently. The ETRTO size is a 'standardised' and far more accurate measure of which tyres will fit on which wheels... http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/ti%20tour%...

Schwalbe also does a 27.5 hybrid tyre but only in the narrower version like the Conti above. Suspect that might be the only option.
The speed king isn't shown in that size for the UK
http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle/ti%20speed...
nor the tour ride

The Race King is though, would that do him?

Maybe worth a call to Cambrian (the UK conti distributor) to see what's what 01970 626777

Thank you all for your help.
Called Cambrian and was given details of a few retailers to contact.
After a few phone calls, I have managed to order a pair of Continental Race King tyres 27.5 x 2.0 from tweeks cycles.
Should have them by midweek next week. Perfect timing!
Many thanks to everyone for their input. Much appreciated.
