Fellow time wasters, wondered if a thread of interesting bike related media would be useful.

I just watched this video from Brother Cycles, very enjoyable.
The Coldest March

Also, this makes me want to pack up and cycle off tonight. Or maybe tomorrow, it's a bit chilly outside...

Sorry if there's one of these threads already!

There are some great cycling videos on youtube from the British Pathe archives, I watched one about a club outing to Oxfordshire, the trains had special racks that hung from the ceiling so you could hang your bike up and not worry about it falling over etc...

Couple of cycling films/docs on Netflix right now, Pantani and Armstrong ones I think are still there.

The British Film Institute have this dvd that I bought but haven't got round to watching yet. Likely to have that Pathe film about the club expedition.

Excellent choice.

I'll nominate American Flyers for the trashy, American take on cycling.

edit: Bonus points to anyone who nominates Nicole Kidman's first movie.

I very much enjoyed A Sunday in Hell and Taming the Badger as far as documentary films go.

Do you happen to know if there's an online source for that?

A few more:

I'm told "Clean Spirit" is worth a watch if you have netflix and how could I have forgotten the classic "Breaking Away"?

Plenty of pics and stories here -

Makes me realise when I have had an adventure or a bad weather day up on the Downs or in the Sussex lanes, others would think it was a doddle!

Definitely 'Breaking Away' for me.

I watched it in my teens with the rest of the cycling club in the late 70's at the local cinema and bought it on DVD a couple of years ago.

Great movie about dedication to your sport, success, failure, pushing against adversity and being disappointed by your heroes.

Can't beat it with a big stick!

Thanks for this, and an actual link to click wink

Although some of those stories do make me jealous I don't have a group of cycling buddies. The bike clubs round my way seem a bit serious.

Where was the most awesome one about the early morning club based in Richmond (i think), not historically important but one of the funniest things I have ever watched smile
