Any suggestions on protection against nettles and brambles? I know I could MTFU but it's not the stinging that bothers me - it's my shins looking like they've been gone over with wire brush that is not my idea of fun. Long MTB trousers will probably be too warm 6+ months of the year so a solution that helps me keep cool is preferred. Would be grateful for ideas.

I'm afraid that looking like you have been up the woods self harming rather than riding your bike is the MTB riders lot

How about some really long girly socks to protect your girly legs! The scrapes and cuts are the sign of a REAL man biggrin

Ride with a mate, and send them down the trail first to clear it!

Beyond wearing trousers this is the only real option. smile

The pair of Fox knee pads that I wear cover quite a bit below the knee so that helps a little.

If anyone asks I tell them that I wear old-school knee and shin pads because I bought them when they were in vogue and I see no point in getting ride until they die - but really it's because of the brambles, I've got very pale, almost hairless legs naturally, I don't need to make them look worse..
