I've been looking into the 150km race but also wouldn't mind joining a 24hr team. I'm slow so not fussed about actually competing though. I've been toying with the idea of selling my road bike in favour of a genesis croix de fer too which won't do my average speed any favours. I'm based near Hull if theres anyone getting the ferry over? Plaaning to ask about at work to see if anyone else fancies it too.
That's great, Rob. Don't worry about your speed. We'll be a mix of abilities and we're not going expecting to top any timesheets. We might all try to get the best out of ourselves individually, but where we come in the overall rankings is unimportant. It's going to take some people a little longer to get round than others but that just gives those others a little longer to rest. The aim above everything else is for everyone to enjoy the weekend.

May I put you down for one of the spare places then? smile

Early Bird Discount ends January 31

Those who register fast, can take advantage of lower prices.

Mountainbike- and roadbike riders planning to participate in the 24 hour race at Rad am Ring will get an early bird discount if registering by January 31. Starting February rates will be slightly higher (see terms & conditions).

Cyclists who do not want to sit on the saddle this long have the opportunity to register at early bird conditions until April 30 for open races and group rides.

Long-distance lovers should not wait too long, however, as participation numbers already amounted to 2,500 mid-january for the 24h race – an increase of ten percent compared to last year. Furthermore due to a campaign of our partner Profile Design, registration numbers are expected to rise in February and also the UCI race increases the event’s appeal. Be quick to secure your starting spot.
Anyone that's been thinking about joining us might want to jump in sooner rather than later..

Someone out of the 2,500 must be riding a steelie, surely

...Although that 2,500 is the total number of team members, and only one of each team which will be on track at any one time. So probably more like 600 odd riders spread out over the 30km lap.

Anyone doing a solo could also consider taking a spare bike. In the event of a mechanical you'd have a hot spare.

Or, you could even swap between them anyway, giving your pit crew time to lube drivetrain, adjust brakes, check tyres, charge batteries, fill bidons, tape a banana to the frame and put an 'inspirational' message to your stem, all while you do a lap on the spare.

We have had interest expressed but no more definites. I can't really understand why not. It's cycling, it's the Nurburgring, it's a road trip, it's a lads' weekend. Would have thought it'd be up more peoples' streets.

How do you want to play it? Think it's time to close the list and register a two man team to be sure of getting you in?

I could be interested, as just signing up to rides/sportives and this looks good

Could someone confirm the current state of play regarding rough costs & logistics, as I got lost in the pages so far!
Hi TMM!

We have two teams of four registered (plus one solo rider), and two riders waiting to make up the next team.

Entry Cost is EUR440 per 4, so whatever that works out in Sterling at after bank costs. About £80, give or take.

There's a suggested Eurotunnel team crossing on the Friday, and most people are car sharing where practical. We're matching people up based on locations, with the suggestion that occupants split the tunnel and fuel costs between themselves. But travel anyway you want if that doesn't suit. People are heading back at different times. Some car loads straight back after the race, some stopping an extra night.

We have a double plot trackside on which to set up our camp and pit area. CoolC has appropriated a giant awning from work for and we'll all bring tents and sleeping gear. Food is available onsite but Mr hero CoolC has a local colleague who said he'd come feed us. Bring some pasta or whatever as well to be sure, if you like.

Other than that we turn up, pitch up, have a beer the Friday night. Then race 1 on 3 off for a day and a night, whilst having a gas. thumbup

SPB. Can you see what parcels are still available? We currently have two adjacent, but would a third team be able to get a parcel near by? That way we could have a "base camp" plus a remote parcel for either car storage or a quieter pitch for better sleep for those who want it (depending on the neighbours to that parcel of course)
About a dozen plots left, all in zone H (in the track centre, just the other side of Tribune T2 from us). Maybe not the greatest for sleeping, but we could always use it as on overflow car park if so

To be fair, Seek has been wanting to book since before Christmas. We've been holding off for another couple of bods to make a 4-man team up.

Here I am smile

With you on board we now have three of the four required for team 3. Seek has said he'd do double stints if needs be so, if it's OK with him, perhaps we should jump in and and register the team. If (when) we get a fourth Seek could swap to single stints.

Entry is by team rather than individually, with whoever makes the entry paying the entire amount (by IBAN transfer) and then assigning riders to his team (who pay him their share of the entry).

I entered the other two teams, one as myself and one pretending to be Pablo. I could pretend to be one of you however the process is such that it does make more sense if the entry is made by one of the team members, and I could talk whoever does so through if necessary. So if any of you three are willing to assume the role of Captain for your team please shout. smile
