I'm having a terrible time with my 810. Garmin are about to replace it for me and haven't put up much resistance - credit to their customer service. A replacement is all well and good but I've had such a variety of problems with mine that I wonder if it's fundamentally flawed or if I'm simply unlucky. With the length of my rides going up and the Transcontinental next year I really need something I can have confidence in.
So, how's your experience with your own Garmin Edge device? Please add a note with the model you have and any relevant thoughts on it.

I have a 510, owned for 2 years this Christmas. It does random things like switching off or deciding not to give me advance warning of turns. I'm on my 3rd or 4th unit so can't fault the customer service. In fact, I may need to call on them again as it has stopped talking to my phone via Bluetooth.

My 500 was pretty well flawless for 3+ years other than the occasional (maybe as many as 4) lost activity, typically resulting from incorrect shutdown. I'd still be using it but the majority of the screen is illegible after I dropped it last winter cracking the LCD. It's now my wives unit for tracking runs.
My 520 has been flawless for the admittedly limited amount of time I've been using it.

I had an 800 for 2 years, survived 2 road bike crashes and 1 big mtb crash. only time I ever had an issue was when riding under tree cover it lost its gps signal for about a second, when I had the wheel speed sensor on there was no issues.
I have since sold it on and its still going strong. I have now got a 520, its great, touch wood, no problems at all, links to my phone every time, it has once lost connection to my di2, but didn't take much to sort it. just done a 5 hour mtb ride around Long Mynd and used it for nav, no problems!

Whats the problem with yours Gruffy?
It's a long and expanding list but the major problems are:• Turns itself off frequently (50% of rides)
• Crashes on startup (5+ times in a row, typically)
• Backlight turns off when a turn notice comes up at night so you can't see what turn should be made
• Loses activities
• Paired with a phone it beeps constantly with a 'download complete' message, every 5-10 seconds. I once left this running for an hour and it never stopped.
• LiveTrack seems to cause even more frequent crashes (not uncommon, from what I understand)
Losing my rides is the final straw. It's lost a few over the year I've had it. Today I rode the first 50km with the thing seeming OK (it did take half a dozen attempts to boot though) and then it turned itself off. I turned it back on (another half dozen times as it kept crashing) and it eventually picked up a GPS signal about 10 minutes later, but the map screen was blank and I had no navigation. When I got back home I went to upload and it's only got 5km of the ride. Then it crashed again and now it won't even boot or connect to my computer.
I love a company that has decent customer service and I'm hoping I just have a duff one.
Had my 510 since launch. The phone app sync has been a bit unreliable over the years (although that seems to have improved with the more recent version). The device itself has been fine, still on my original unit, I can't remember having any problems.
Saying that I am little worried that the mounting tabs will fail eventually rendering the whole thing useless. They look quite well worn now as I use it daily.

The only problem I have with my 810 is with elevation.
Last week I pressed stop then switched it off (its how you long pause an 810 as it doesn't have a pause button), and it loses elevation. Last weeks was 148m, which I thought was quite impressive as I hadn't moved an inch! At that point I got onto Garmin and they have advised a few things which I have done but not been able to test yet (format device and master reset).

Edge 800 had for 3 years:-
Occasional problem on start-up, won't find any satellites no matter how long I leave it, a reboot sorts it.
Suffers the known issue of a memory hole which crashes the device on long rides 200km+; turning it off and back on at 200km avoids the problem, just have to remember to hit start again to continue the logging.
