My 15yr old daughter had a quick spin on my Argos bargain Ventura CP50 when it arrived & loved it, she looked very natural on it despite it being slightly large for her. She has mentioned it a few times since so I started browsing eBay to see what was about & ended up finding this http://www.rutlandcycling.com/284965/products/2015...

As she has done swimming, athletics & now kayaking we are encouraging her to try Triathlons, reckon she'd be pretty good. Looking forward to riding with her myself too. What pedals do you think I should get her, SPD's or SL's? I'm tempted to go SPD as I find them easier than the SL's on my CP50 (R540's).

I have clicked purchase but it won't be shipped 'til Monday so still time to change my mind if something better comes up.

The wheels are terrible! My Dad had a giant Defy and had one problem after another with them.

Why do Giant sell their women's bikes as Giant, but say "Liv" on the frame? confused

I recently bought an MTB for my daughter, and only found out about this when I phoned the company to tell them they needed to come and collect it as they'd shipped me the wrong bike!

SPDs will be fine. Easier to get in and out of.
Most of the stiffness, or lack of will come from the shoe anyway.

Giant appears a bargain at £499 down to £299 but fit and test ride are key so would always go try a few before buying / ordering online.

Plenty of good option's here http://road.cc/content/buyers-guide/166573-best-ro...

Am not a roadie but hear a lot of good about B'Twin at this level, poss unisex rather than female specific but "Probably one of the best performance and value bikes in this whole price range, the B'TwinTriban 500 SE road bike costs just £330 and for that you get a clean looking aluminium frame, carbon fork and 3 x 8 Microshift drivetrain, for an all up weight of 10.08kg (22.4lb). There are no unwelcome shortcuts in the finishing detail and it rides much like a race-bred bike, making it an ideal first road bike for anyone with sporty intentions."

Let us know what you decide & how she gets on.
