completed today, glad I carried out some extra miles earlier in the week as my hangover from darts wasn't good, so struggled round the 30 miles I needed, but very glad I did it in the end. It was almost over before it began when my bike came off my car at 70mph! But gives me a good story to submit. Going to treat the bike I completed all the miles on (that also came off my car) to some new tape, chain and mudguards as a little festive 500 present.

Spotted this as a link from the Strava 'Festive 500' challenge discussion page...

What do you get for your "significant other" to atone for your selfish obsession with cycling over the Christmas break?

Adam, the PH trophy is yours!
...damn you MadDad! I thought I was a dead-cert for a podium at least on this one!

Arrrrrrrrgh!!!! rage

Happy New Year, and well done to all who participated in this daft challenge! thumbup

First time I've been anywhere near to completing this, and it was a tough ask, even in the unseasonably mild weather we've been having darn sarf this month. Not sure I'd want to commit to doing it during a more 'wintery' December, to be fair...

Hello!

Less regular visitor to PH than I used to be. Thanks for the shoutout, it was a real tough ride

Got in yesterday and there was a shout of "something in the post for you, dad!"

And here it is...

I'd forgotten about the patch to be honest. But now I remember thinking "It's Rapha. I don't got nuffink Rapha at all. And it's free, not even any postage to pay, so why the hell not..."

I've put the Festive 500 behind me already, and moved on to my new, self-set challenge for 2016. To ride at least one 'proper' century every month for the year.

Well that's a surprise. I wouldn't have thought that someone who'd earned it would happily sell it to someone who hadn't. Not that I care one way or the other, it just surprises me is all. I hadn't even thought of selling it.

Edit: A quick Ebay search turned up 2 results, completed auctions for previous years' patches. Both sold for £16. I'm trying to work out the profit percentage, but apparently dividing by zero will break the internet or something?
