Exclipse this morning, 3x 20 min intervals.

Sessions 1 & 2 ok, but started getting arse discomfort during the last session. Had to stop twice to get comfy.

Managed to hang on to the end.

Now minus 3kg too!

Well done, good effort on the weight loss. If you're doing more riding than normal it may just be a case of getting used to it....I tend to stand up (as if you might cycling up a steep hill) every now and again on the turbo trainer just to break the monotony. It may be a case you need to get your saddle adjusted, or even buy a new saddle.

Tomorrow....I plan on doing a Sufferfest I've shamefully copied from their app (I prefer how trainerroad works) called The Omnium if my legs feel up to it....then I'll be doing Avalanche Spire. Aim for around 135TSS, give or take.

Cheers!

The arse discomfort is more down to not having ridden properly since mid November.

I did a saddle fit, by trying various Fizik saddles out, ended up with an Aliante. Discomfort is less when wearing my Rapha shorts, as I was in my Lusso ones this morning.

I think the main problem is staying fixed to the seat, a few reps out of the saddle can't hurt though....

Good luck on the Omnium.... :-)

Cheers, the Omnium looks pretty brutal and 1 section is a 1minute flat out effort....so I'll be switching from ERG mode to standard for that, and it asks for a "standing start" so I need to turn off "pedal to play/pause"....if left in ERG mode it asks for just over 30secs at 150% and then just under 30secs at 170% FTP....so that's gonna be hard!!

I'm planning on a ride out in the morning too, assuming the frost plays ball!

I've a pair of Fulcrum 5 waiting for a test ride, had them since a big fat bloke dressed in red, with a beard visited......

Well, that hurt.

The Omnium was an EPIC workout. The video footage and music was fantastic, but it really hurt! Managed to do psyche up the courage to do some avalanche spire efforts after, although I edited the recoveries from 4 mins to 3mins.

Dead now. That "standing kilometre" in The Omnium really hurt. Basically it's go as flat out as you can for 1 minute....my average was 158% FTP but that was after some pretty intense intervals beforehand, and I'm definitely NOT built for sprinting, but it was a great workout. All other intervals done in ERG/electronic mode.

It looks tough. Especially as you spent 50% at threshold in your Heart Zone.

Out of interest, if you have Sufferfest footage, how do you / did you create the the workout on TR, as the Omnium is not listed as a workout? Did you use the workout creator and create from scratch?

Yes. I have signed up to the Sufferfest app, but I prefer trainerroad....mainly because it uses Power Match so my power targets are spot on. I also like how with TR you can easily switch between ERG and standard modes, which can't be done in the sufferfest app. So what I did was use a screen recording programme to get the video footage (naughty, I know), and then set my FTP to 100W in the app so when it displays target power I know what to set the interval FTP at (eg if the app says put out 150W I know that interval is set at 150% FTP).

Then spent a while on their app and seeing when each interval started/ended and created it from scratch that way.....then added the video, checked all the intervals were in sync with the video and hey presto, job jobbed, as it were.

I have every Sufferfest video, they have a few others on there which are not listed in TR, another epic one is called "thin air" which is essentially a 40min climb....the average % of FTP over this 40mins is 100%, but there are some really hard efforts in there, and some cracking footage. I did this workout in their app, but I've also created it in the workout creator. I know it's naughty but....meh.

Thanks.

I had an inkling that the only way was through the workout creator. Good idea about setting your FTP on Sufferfest to 100w so you can see / work out the % changes, I didn't think of that.

As I only use TR I have all the Sufferfest videos that there is a TR workout for, but I haven't bothered with the app specific videos as there was no matching workouts.

As you've gone to all the trouble of creating the workout, and as the privacy on the PH Team on TR is set as private, would you mind adding it? You would be our first upload. cool

Of course....how do I do it? hehe

If you want the videos I'm sure we can arrange it....

edit - someone needs to make me an administrator of the team I think

Good stuff, I picked up a CycleOps Fluid 2, training matt, two blocks and a Conti indoor tyre yesterday from someone on eBay, £110. So will be giving it a shot later this afternoon for this weeks 90min session. First impressions have just set it up are that higher power efforts will be lot more realistic, will be nice to be able to get out the saddle and move about the bike more than the old rollers.

I need to speak to a mate as he has all the SF videos which he said I could ahem "borrow", some decent climbing ones will be good.

If anyone wants to, ahem, borrow, any SF videos ping me an email....could arrange something like posting me a decent-size USB stick or something. Can't upload them anywhere as I must have about 30gb of them....

You won't find the latest on there, (Igniter, Thin Air or The Omnium)....all of which I have, and have created them in the workout creator.

Well that has eclipsed any 90min session to date. Literally could have rung my bibs and top out afterwards. Post ride having had a shower I actually feel ok.

Roll on next week. May stick a few 30min rides in on the off days.

Well done, did the same yesterday and thought it the hardest session yet.

Into Week 4 tomorrow......

I also did a short (20 miles) loop today. Last ride out on the road was mid-November and conditions today were pretty miserable.

A three mile slog into a head wind, mixed with fine rain meant I had to concentrate, but managed to keep my cadence high and speed consistent, so the work done so far seems to be working, although my average speed was 13 mph, down from last summer, when it was 15.5.....

Still it can only improve....

I was talking to a friend earlier about TR and he has a Taxc Neo and I don't think he uses it to its full potential.

Does anybody have a 'free' months subscription email that they haven't already passed on?
