Good to hear you are feeling better Ross. My torque wrench goes up to silly amounts great for Garmin Vectors (I took it of our yacht when we sold it). Need to fit next two sessions in between now and Sunday.

My mk2 ph top is sweat ruined I think! For some reason I get a massive pool of sweat on the ground under my right wrist but nothing on the left.

Looking for some advice / comments guys.... etc etc
Not sure if I'm qualified to give advice, but I'd leave it as is for a couple more sessions, then as Ross commented, if it really it that easy to maintain the efforts, then maybe another 20 min FTP test is in order, or just raise your FTP by 10 or so and see how you get on with it...

Cheers

Realised my last few rides on Trainer Road had not been correctly 'power controlled' as I'd sync'd the power meter in TR to the 'separate' one (not sure why the Taxc Vortex does that) in the list of available devices rather than the Vortex itself... I thought some of the sessions were a bit too easy! Sorted that and everything except cadence (as that was varying by +/- 20) is now Vortex controlled and things are more 'realistic' wink

Huxley 30 for me before breakfast, that was brutal. One more set would have finished me off but happy with my results as I'm not really built for time attacks / breakaways tongue out

Tallac done.

Did I not like that :-(

My legs were told to shut up several times and took no notice......again I managed to hang on to a the bitter end, but it wasn't pleasant.

Still, I managed to complete it!

The joys of a higher FTP wink

Although I suspect it felt harder than it should have because you may just be a bit fatigued.

I did 3 hours today indoors, did a virtual training loop..... Legs felt crap to start with after yesterday but after about 90mins I seemed to perk up a bit.

It was ride three in four days, so i think I need a break tomorrow...

Three hours inside, wow you've got more stamina than me, 90 mins is the most I can do in the garage....

To be honest I really don't mind. I found the endurance rides on TR can get boring, but I used to stick on some TV series, or a film or something to pass the time and it wasn't too bad. For hard sessions I watch old races where you're working too hard to actually focus on the TV.

These days I use virtual training for long rides as it's just much more engaging. Ultimately if the weather is OK I'll go outside.

I think Monday morning I may try and ride a famous cycling climb called "Angliru"..... Almost 4k ft of climb in about 7 miles or something daft. Not sure yet, I know it'll really hurt! The kickr can simulate grades up to 25%, and at that I have to put about 130% FTP to get up it, and in 1st gear I'm doing less than 60rpm!

I'm up very early tomorrow and it'll be a pretty gentle 50mins or so using trainer road. Legs are feeling battered today though.... Feel tired walking downstairs hehe I think having 1.5 weeks of very little cycling and jumping back into hard training yesterday plus 3 hours and 150TSS today has shocked the system a bit.

I'm also VERY glad my kickr appears to be well and healthy, now I've torqued the lock nut for the freehub up to the right setting! It was WAY too tight!

Urgh - just done Eclipse after not cycling all week with a cold.

Hard work, but somehow managed a few PBs. I have a feeling I'll regret it later though frown

Phewee..... I just did Fish -1, I knew it was going to be tough, but that last interval was a complete rollercoaster for me!! I admit that I stopped for about 30 seconds and then I just got on with it again.

I'm meant to be doing the aerobic session Virginia tomorrow, but I'm probably going to go out with my club instead and have a gentle ride with the club run. I just need to remind myself not to go sprinting off when we come back in towards the city... (I hate losing! wink)

Tallac completed, stupidly thought if had felt a bit easy so set out to try and do 270w for the last 15min interval, in the end I think I managed 261w so all heading in the right direction. I wonder what 20mins for 1 effort feels like compared to the last of 15mins. Will find out soon.

Well done!

Those 15 mins sessions take it out of you!

Decided on a quick spin out today, did a 5 mile walk this morning so did the same loop I did a few weeks back. (Only 20 miles)

Good news is I was 10 mins quicker this week, critically most of the PBs were on the climb back up the the hill towards home.

The cardio work on the trainer seems to allow me to spin faster, for further. Even managed a mini-race against a tractor on one of my local lanes....which is up hill!

Great stuff, will soon be at 95% FTP for 20mins, can then start upping the power before blowing up!

Well done ALawson, good going!

I just used TR to do a warm up, then used Virtual Training to do the Angliru climb. Wanted more TSS so did a small bit of "centennial" as well.

Angliru was insane. My first attempt at an "HC" climb. I put my bike on 2 riser blocks to simulate a steep climb. According to the stats there's a section which averages 14% for 3.8 miles rofl My cadence was seriously low in places....around 50rpm. Here is the strava link

https://www.strava.com/activities/857014632

The intensity factor was just over 0.89, but the last 40mins were nearer 0.94 as the first 15-20mins weren't that steep. That included 20mins of sweetspot and 20mins of threshold work in there, all at very low cadences so a very productive climbing workout. I was glad to be spinning 90rpm+ after though hehe

Whilst I do enjoy doing the virtual training, I prefer trainer road in many ways because it FORCES you to a certain intensity (when using an electric trainer, at least) and there's no hiding; but the virtual training definitely mixes things up a bit and I suspect I'll keep my subscription when it's up for renewal, but there's no way it'll be replacing TR.

Well done Ross!

I did a "real" HC climb last year, the Col de Joux Planes, which was the last climb on last year's TdF.

1000m vertically over 10.5kms.

Needless to say I was snail paced, the mountain goat in our group did it in 45mins, I was an hour behind him....[redface].

Group photo at the top, I'm the lardy one on the left.... :-)

Black done, bit of a weird one tonight....

Forgot my pre-ride banana, so by 20 mins in, my sugar levels dropped and my legs started to feel heavy and lifeless.

Fortunately my daughter brought me banana and after 5 mins I was on the road to recovery.....

Carson done tonight, it was a good workout with some nice duration 75 and 85 rpm drills.

I decided to increase my target power profile by 115% (thought i was enlarging the screen to begin with biggrin) and I still managed to stay 30-40w higher than that target and felt OK at the end of it. smile
