Palisade is a pretty decent workout.....but if you think it's hard...wait until you get further through the plans and into the more specific stuff winkhehe

Managed without too many disasters, had to talk to myself a couple of times to hang on the power level, but still feeling ok although I wouldn't want to do that ride again today.....

Gonna try Brasstown tomorrow night to complete the plan and then move onto the next plan later in the week as I'm away with work mid-week.

53 miles for me today with just over 3800ft climb. Definite head wind on the way out.....at the 1/2 way point my average was 14.5mph, but I finished on 16.2....

That's with my old wheels and insanely heavy puncture-resistant tyres. I find my summer wheels/tyres always give about 1.5mph or more, which is quite crazy really!!

Just picked up a Tacx Flow - so I am going to try TrainerRoad.

Don't suppose anyone has any of the free 1-month trial codes?

Thanks.

Usually tomorrow I'd do a sweetspot session to around 90-100TSS, then an easy 50mins before work on Tuesday, I think, however, I'm going to take my bike to work, cycle home with a bit of tempo, then cycle into work in the morning. Forecast is dry, and it's about 20 miles each way. I don't mind dry and cold, I can't stand rain and cold though....

I don't mind missing TR sessions if they're only for endurance or a bit of tempo, but, even through the summer, I still use TR at least 1x/week (usually 2x) to keep those hard sessions going.

That's the trainer I have....you'll need a Bluetooth cadence / speed sensor to go on your crankset / rear wheel as you cannot use the wired one on the trainer.

I've also a free month's subscription available if anyone wants it let me know?

I'm running TR via my iPhone, with the screen in front of me mounted on an easy mount from Poundland!

I started doing the 20min FTP test earlier, but TR crashed and i wasn't really in the mood, so i called it a day and spann it out to get to 40 mins.

On reflection, I should have just done one of the 60-90 min sessions and put that in the bank, ho hum,.....

The latest flow is a smart / electronically (wireless) controlled trainer (aka flow smart). May well be that you need nothing!

Well I skipped two efforts of Black and settled into Brasstown. On the appearance that it was a bit meh, I set off at 20min ftp pace for 10-12mins whilst following the drills with some 150-130% ftp 30s efforts. 240w NP for the 90 mins and legs are goosed.

I saw that....maybe good for me tomorrow as a recovery ride.....the last week of the basephase Sens a bit lame, but I suppose this is effectively a recovery week ahead of another FTP test next week.

I'll be skipping that when I start the Build phase as I only did a test a couple of weeks ago, and after today's efforts I think I'm pretty much good at the level I'm at now...

I think I can easily do whatever is needed during the 20min ftp test to give 270w so will do one soon. I was in two minds to do a 60min or 90min session today. Pacing is definitely getting better,

I am missing wind in the hair and will need to turn a wheel on the road for 2017 at some point! No booze yet either this year but stuck at 81kg. Better stop eating too much sugary crap!

I did end up taking my bike into work today and cycled home. As I'd usually do a sweetspot session I made the ride into a bit of a tempo ride...didn't cane it but definitely got a bit of a lick on....19.2mph. Weather is really nice today, noticeably warmer than the hideous chill of yesterday. Intensity factor was 0.835 which is similar to the sweetspot sessions. Looking at it though I did a 50/50 split between sweetspot and tempo zones....unlike the TR sessions I didn't really have any rest breaks. That's one thing I love about TT sessions....you can really stick in a power zone, so it's more productive.

Cycle in tomorrow will be a bit more gentle, mind smile My car is at work, so I don't have a choice to drive or not hehe

I did Brasstown tonight, I thought it was a bit crap after the last few weeks of entertaining sessions, like an infill to make the hours and TSS up.

I ended up free-riding most of it, including a 15 min climb in the middle at a steady 85rpm, I then loosened my legs off with a 100rpm spin for 5 mins without too much effort.

Finished it 15 mins early as boredom struck and I was only after a recovery ride after Palisade yesterday.

Might do a ride out Weds night as I have an unexpected work from home day, when I was supposed to be away with work.....

ETA I've now completed SS base low, having had a look through the plans at the next level, I'm inclined to move onto general build low, with the goal of increasing my endurance....any thoughts??

If you've completed SS base part 1 and 2 then yeah, go for it smile I have done the general build in the past and found it's a very good blend between power and endurance. If you want more endurance then choose the sustained power build. Alternatively, you could do a "mix up" of the 2....

Hi Ross.

A couple of updates from TR in respect to your account.

Hey Craig,

Thanks for getting back to me. It looks like you still have admin rights, but I am still unable to give E65ross permission.

I am getting the same error message, and am very confused on why this is.

I can reach out to our Development Support Specialists to see if they have any tips on what to do here, but for now you have admin rights for your team.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hey Craig,

How is everything going with your TrainerRoad team? As many times as we've tried, for some reason we're still unable to give E65ross admin rights. However, giving anyone else on the team admin rights isn't a problem - such a weird issue!

Would it be okay if E65ross didn't have admin rights?

We can keep looking into this issue, but I've tried virtually everything and can't seem to get this figured out. Let me know!

I had considered the Sustained Build program, but I'm struggling with the prospect of 2hrs on the TT at the weekends.

As of this weekend I intend to be heading out to build some road miles as I've already booked myself into various organised rides this year, starting with the Mad March share early next month and then the Vrynwy Velo in May and Velo Birmingham in September.

In between, I'll be stretching for some additional rides in June, July and August, so need to increase my time in the saddle, but actually out on the road as opposed to in the garage.....

I'm thinking the general build will help "fill in the gaps" during the week without over doing things in time for the weekend...
