No trainerroad again today as I had to cycle into work..... Legs felt absolutely hideous..... I think it's the combination of a lot of training stress on Saturday, a 62 mile ride with a fee hills Sunday, tempo ride back yesterday afternoon and only half a day to recover plus a 0610 start to ride out this morning..... Just felt crap!

Day off the bike tomorrow and I plan on doing some tough stuff Thursday on trainerroad.

Keep it up folks.

Sufferfest have brought out a new tough workout called "the shovel"....the idea being you'll be digging yourself out of a hole by the end hehe I've had a look at the figures and it looks utterly, utterly horrible. I'll create it using the workout creator and probably reduce some of the interval intensities as they look a bit, erm, optimistic, shall we say!

Slightly off topic but has anyone tried Fulgaz or BigRingVR?

Bird last night using a lower cadence than I normally would - still 90+, mind you. 5-10% over the prescribed power level in every interval, so it's probably time to gird my loins for another FTP test.

Irritatingly the ride won't sync to Strava - I think because Strava was down for a time last night - and 24 hours later the progress spinner is still showing on the 'sync to Strava' link.

Not posted for a while due too a week's skiing break, felt tired when I can back so just some easy stuff for a week. Tried a sweetspot this morning and for the 2nd half increased it to 110% and still felt OK.

Unfortunately I guess it's time for an FTP test eek

I will be back in the garage tonight, post trampolining on Sunday (what a mistake) by whole back has been in all sorts of pain and general aches around the rest of my lack of core. Most worrying was a pain to the posterior of my left hamstring which has just about gone now. Due to do Kaweah still so will crack on with that tonight.

Really reduced some of the intensity of some of the sets on that new sufferfest video.....but it was still a tough session. The main 2 sets were almost 52mins long, including a 5 min break in between, and still had an IF of 0.96....so far from an easy ride. Not a hope in hell I could have done them at the prescribed intensity, so I'm glad I reduced them, I think I judged it pretty well as there was definitely times of self-doubt!

Cracking session though.....basically 2 sets of inverse intervals....55s/5s hard/rest, then 50/10, 45/15 and so on, then back down....then the opposite. Brutal.

Well that was fun - got "bored" in last set of Warlow so decided to go for it. Regret may have been felt frown

Tomorrow will be the last day of my training block, and I've decided to a LONG sufferfest session that is a blend of ISLAGIATT and Thin Air (the latter isn't on TR)....it totals 2.5 hours long, has an IF of 0.85 and 184TSS....after over 3 hours on the bike yesterday and having a horrendous food day today (a real bad binge day....) I'm not feeling especially confident! Will be one of the few sessions where it's long enough I really need to think about nutrition on the go.

It's going to be a LOT of sweetspot and tempo work.

Tomorrow I will be mostly doing the Mad March Hare from Wythall down to Chipping Campden and back.

A nice 75 miles in what is likely to be less than ideal conditions..... badass that I am..... :-)

Let us know how you got on Wobert. How are you finding your fitness after using TR for a while now?

LONG session for me today, and it involved a lot of tempo/sweetspot/threshold....but it wasn't as hard as I'd have liked. It did make me think, however, that their ISLAGIATT video at full whack would be seriously tough (this involved most of the video at 90% as Sufferfest say this session would be impossible at 100%....I remember doing Thin Air and that is one of the hardest ones I've done.

I did the Mad March Hare last year and the route was broadly the same, especially the return from Chipping Campden.

I managed to bag 39 PBs overall with most on the return leg.

The weather on the outbound leg was simply atrocious, so speed was limited for safety's sake.

I'd say that my endurance seems to be improving, particularly when my legs are feeling drained. Some how I manage to keep going irrespective of whether my legs are saying otherwise.....

Could do with a short recovery ride tomorrow night, but away with work......need some new bake pads, as today's conditions have finally killed mine after 4000 miles.

Same TSS (well, actually a couple more) than my 3hr 36mins ride out the other week...

Well done there Ross, even with today's conditions I couldn't spend 2.5 hrs in the garage...chapeau for that :-)

I find the sufferfest videos much more engaging and less "boring" than the typical TR sessions.....although if I have a goal/target in mind I generally stick to it. The weather was terrible here Friday, which was when I was due to do an endurance ride....so I stuck on virtual training and did just over 3 hours. Enjoyed it! Not as much as a nice sunny, warm ride outdoors admittedly!

FTP up to 257w from the 239w it's been since I last spent time on TR last May. I suspect that's going to make it all really quite unpleasant for a while.

Of to see the Doc tonight, a combination of small twinges in and around the chest have got me worried. I am sure its nothing to worry about, if anything the chest and heart feel fine when pushing through 175-185bpm on 8-10min intervals, its normally some time post exercise.

I think it is posture combined with straining my back a few weeks ago doing trampolining. However, there were a few similar pains in Jan but then I did come off on ice on the day after boxing day.

Assuming that is ok, I will be in the garage tonight. Left knee which had flared up seems to be fine now, it doesn't like the TR high cadence efforts although that may be down to poor form!

Evening gents, I thought I would pop into this thread having just retested my FTP on the 20min test on TrainerRoad.

I have felt for the past few weeks that my FTP was way too low, I originally tested back in Jan after 10 weeks off the bike & excessive drinking and eating, hence my FTP after the 8 min test came out at 152 with me blowing out my hoop biggrin

Tonight's 20 min test has returned a new FTP of 225 which I am really chuffed with, but I suspect I am going to pay for when I start the workouts again!

I need to shift some timber, currently sitting at 84kg which is way too heavy for my height, so works out around 2.68 w/kg. I would love to get this close to 3 but not sure if I do enough miles to get there - I cannot cycle to work and other commitments limit me to around 2k miles a year which I really enjoy.

I am also hoping my new wheels I bought for my roadie will make a different this year biggrin

I'll try and join the PH group, keep an eye out for me (71NotOut on there).

Cheers,
Steven

Largely meaningless, I know, but I was childishly pleased with what my HRM said before I started Tuesday's FTP test:
