Trainerroad expectations
Discussion
Ericsson for me tonight, first attempt at one legged drills which was interesting!
Started on the 2nd week of my plan, finding it ok so far fitness wise, but it's the bike comfort which is making it a challenge for now. I've adjusted what I can so will see if it gets easier over the next few sessions, a bike fit might be in order though.

About to purchase a Kickr and reactivate my TR subscription.
Looking on their website you can drag mp4 videos into the software and therefore have an EGO controlled power/video running.
Anybody doing this and where do you get the videos from? Do you subscribe to Sufferfest and get those? Anyone using Kinomap?

In a fit of money burning hole in pocket, I might have purchased a 4iiii Precision power meter (cheaper at Ribble Cycles atm!)
Han anyone else got a real world comparison between their virtual power (via the turbo) and a real power meter? Life was very difficult in tonights workout - felt a lot harder to get similar results to previous workouts with similar TSS / profile.
What power smoothing do you use in the trainerroad app? I think I might have been chasing numbers a bit which probably didn't help.

I struggled on Tunnabora this morning too- still pretty tired from the 3x20s at the weekend. Thought I was going to have to bail out after the 2nd set but managed to hang on. I just think the plan is starting to ramp up so it’s harder to recover in time. Be interesting to see how you get on with the 4iiii compared to virtual. What is your current setup?
Would love a power meter but they're still slightly too expensive for me to justify. Seem to be getting cheaper all the time though. Would take the plunge if they dropped down nearer £250 for a basic model.
I'm under no illusions that virtual power can't be directly compared to using a power meter, but the testing the TR did themselves with the trainer I have (road machine 2) showed it tracked very closely to a power meter. So with careful setup I don't doubt virtual power can be used to track comparative numbers if not absolute power figures.

First ride out with my FB cycling group in a few weeks on Sunday after a good few sessions on the TT in the interim.
Did Ainslie last night as a recovery ride, turned out I’d bitten off a little more than I could chew, Ainslie ain’t no recovery ride!
Managed to complete, but was expecting lower intensity if I’m being honest...... :-o

Did my second FTP test today. Up to 176 from 164. Pretty low in the grand scheme but in pleased with the progress in he last few weeks.
Need to sort my diet out still.
Well done!Need to sort my diet out still.
I too started at 164 and followed the base training. I’m currently at 229 so it certainly works.... keep going!
I haven't ridden at all for 2 weeks now since falling off and breaking my collar bone....I also partially dislocated my hip which I had relocated Friday....pain levels dropped to around 20% within an hour or so of having that done!!
Slowly getting there and I think I'll be able to do some gentle stuff on the TT next week at some point.

Ouch, I remember breaking by collar bone the day before my GCSE exams. That hips sounds a lot worse. I managed a 260w for 40mins in the garage this week, considering I hadn't really been on the bike for 2 weeks was promising. Need to start doing some intervals and try and get it back up, cannot seem to shift any lumber at the moment despite eating fairly carefully.

I've ended up have to pause my plan (SSBv1) for the last two weeks due to kids getting ill and then passing it on to me. Got the first 4 weeks done without hitch so after an easy tempo session this morning I'm back into it on Weds to do the last week. Have to say those two weeks off (well, managed a couple of short runs in that time and a random 90min TR session last weekend so haven't done nothing for two weeks) have let my legs recover and felt pretty good this morning. "Looking forward" to the next FTP test as it certainly feels easier to hit the numbers.
