Any suggestions for a remedy, locksmith or tools to cut it ?

It's an Abus Granit Steel O Flex 1000

sadly removing a wheel won't help

Hacksaw, attack weekest bit

Biggest bolt cutters you can get

Cordless angle grinder

Drill the lock if you have one

There a screwfix near there?

Looking at inards online, I reckon a hacksaw will go through, only cost a couple of quid (buy a few) you might look a bit dodgy

angle grinder will go through easily

A mate lost his keys for his D lock he asked if being into bikes if I knew how to deal with it, I got a hammer, lined it up so I could strike the barrel away from the U, 1st hit it sprang open - he was happy but also quite distressed. Think his 1st words were "for fks sake no wonder so many bikes get nicked". I was suprised quite how easily it opened.

Don't know about that lock but anyway you can strike it hard away from the lock?

Portable angle grinder is your best bet probably. Being silver rated it shouldn't just give up with wire cutters or a hammer like a cheap lock. The other thing to look at is what is it locked to? That might be weaker than the lock to at least let you get the bike home.

Surprisingly easy and by a man wearing crocs, KBE that sorry of person was special.

Apparently freezing the lock with freeze spray from a builders merchant and then striking with a hammer is surprisingly efficient.

I'll send some of the local chavs round if you like, they'll have it off in seconds.

So went "tooled up" today

The freeze spray was £18 which put me off so tried the hacksaw

That went through the outer casing easily but would not touch the braided steel cable inside

All the motion shook the remaining part of the key out so 30 minutes rummaging in a container (we are moving house) and the spare key was found

thanks for the help
