Looks another of these lights where the beam doesn't point directly behind due to the angle of the seat tube. Unless there's something I can't see that adjusts the beam to point horizontally rearwards?

Well they do point down a tad, but surely it's all about being seen i thought .

What's the point being x% brighter than a cheap light, when the cheap light can be just as effective because it's pointing in the right direction?

I agree about the direction thing, I saw the lights in reference and thought there is no angle adjustment

Or are the lights multi directional so it is not needed?

Relevant to me as I commute down a pitch black B road, which can be quite quiet, so need to maximize the distance cars can see me if they are approaching @ 50 mph

These are the best rear lights i've ever brought, easy to apply, easy to charge & very visible, I cycle in London only in the dark & i have a helmet light as well as one on my Rucksack .

I guess they are not to everybody's taste & as you say they are not 100% upright straight , i guess these are not for you, but for me they are perfect.

Imo with rear lights, it's all about quantity.

Planet X do 3 interesting lights.. There's the phaart, which is a double bright job like a moon, but 7 quid. I use that as main light on "on", backed up by a plane X bleep (single bright thing) on flash. I then use 2 of the Planet X cheap knockoffs of a knob frog on the chain stays, and 1 on the helmet.

It's total overkill, but covers 2 angles - first is as a species we're rubbish at distance on things that flash, and things in a line are less easy to see than a triangle.
Second is that if you rely on 1 light, and it fails - then the first you know about it might be too late.

Oh, and the whole setup is as bright as Blackpool, and costs 12 quid. Add some rechargeable aa's from Amazon call it 15. Not expensive, not heavy.

The knog I had in the past did have an angle wedge on it, but that was the blinder 4 led. This tilted it up perfectly on my bikes seat post/stays.

Erm.. Other than the brake light idea, what is the point?

I’m still using the Planet X Pharts I bought years ago, and I still have two spares, and I’m still using the cheapo rubber band thingies that were 99p a pair from eBay.

I have even managed to keep the £15 Cree front lights going, although I did have to make new battery packs up, but I used cells harvested from old laptop batteries from work.

Dunno who makes them, but recently I have seen a few people with helmets that have a triangular or square strip of red leds built into the back. Provides excellent visibility to other road users because it is large lit area, and higher up.

I will def be looking to get one when it's time for a new helmet.

When I needed a light last spring I took the opportunity to buy a Fly6 - the more cameras on the road the better.

That looks pretty good, we do have some bellends down the lanes that like to see how close they can get when overtaking.

Know a few guys that have them, apparently the early ones were good but the recent ones have changed design and don't last very long. They're a "drop ship" company with a flashy website selling stuff from china.

I have the Xlite 100 - sold from a different place for about 12 quid, exactly the same as a friends 'branded' one. they look quite snazzy till turned on, then totally unremarkable.

with my Power Expert saddle thought it was often too hidden for good visibility, depending on drivers height of course.

Tks, that's the one. Good idea, but the starting price of 150 quid has put me off;)
