Picked up the new bike up just before closing on a Friday night ( I wouldn't buy a car this way...). It had a flat front tyre which I was told was because the tech hadn't pumped it up as "he had to fix the disc brakes". Pumped it up instore myself.

Flat by the following morning presumably with a puncture. Called the store who told me it has an inner tube (although the wheels & tyres can be run tubeless). I am absolutely unable to get the tyre off to do a repair. I have done thousands in the past so I know what I am doing. Wheel is a WTBST i23 27.5 (Tubeless Compatible System - TCS) and the tyre is a WTB 2.3 27.5

While its a frustrating pain in the arse I am glad to find this problem now, rather than when I am cycling and get a puncture a long way from home.

Has anyone got any tips on how to get the tyre off? The tyre is so tight I cannot insert a tyre lever, let alone get it under the bead. It is as if the tyre has been put on with superglue made by NASA.

Push the tyre to the centre of the rim rather than levering it over, probably has a bead lock something like this so a lip to push the tyre over. Then when its in the trench in the middle of the rim lift the bead over.

They are usually a lot harder to put back on!

Thanks, good advice as always. Once I pushed the beads into the centre of the wheel (not particularly easy) the tyre came off without a problem. Yes, it was a challenge to get it back on.

I intend to give tubeless a try
