Loved the program, despite having Gregg Wallace front it!
I watched it last night, and it was interesting to see it all done by hand. Wallace is a plank though. I was also surprised he didn't ride "his" bike home.

Anyone bought a baby blue two-speed with a Brooks? Perhaps ask for it to be checked over again! smile

Rode the Scarborough to Whitby old rail line last year and crossed paths with someone riding a Brompton the other way - not sure how far they were going. Hopefully did better than me on my old MTB - vibration on the worst bit finally saw my remnants of mudguard disappear - then a puncture saw me call MrsMercs to drag me back home.
That sounds probably more energetic than I'll be! I shall investigate though, thanks for the suggestion smile

Thanks for the heads up on the Brompton program. I shall watch that whilst I am having my lunch. I'd like to visit the factory one day.

My Brompton has done 2015 miles since I bought it in July last year. I feel I should celebrate in some way smile Might buy it some brightly coloured roller skate wheels instead of boring black Brompton easy wheels.

I've also been looking at cheap carbon bars for ages as the standard ones are a little bendy to say the least.

I'm guessing the titanium isn't really worth it.

I mean it's a lot of money for not even a kg of weight saving!

I'm ready to order! S6L in lime green mmm

Here's my Brompton, two weeks old. S2Lx. I take it on the train between Birmingham to London and then to get about in London. Having been a reluctant buyer, now I'm an absolute convert. The Canadian Helix is going to be another year I reckon before they start production. So I abandoned that idea. The Birdy looked interesting. Rides well but doesn't fold well. Compared to the Brompton, the Birdy's fold is like a car crash. So I settled on the Brompton. Now I have one, I love it. I love how it folds so small. You can genuinely use it in the trains, no hassle, and yet it is good fun to bomb around London on. Rock up at a cafe or restaurant, and take the bike in with you. None of this searching for a docking station you get with the Boris bikes.

I know I'm preaching to the converted on this thread, but really, they are such a good invention. Very happy with it.

Titanium was a must for me. I'm skinny and lugging the full steel on and off the trains would have dented my enjoyment. For a normal sized bloke, I reckon the merits of titanium probably do not outweigh the disproportionate extra cost. For me, they do. I've already got the Brompfication titanium seat post and spring loaded hing clamps. Thanks for the info on these earlier in the thread.

I've got a small-ish sportive (Halesowen 100k) on Sunday. Seriously tempted to take the Brompton.

Not really, but it looks great, especially with a raw laquer finish.

Well i justify it thus, my cycle to work scheme which opens again next week will cover a steel one without too much extra of my own cash.

Agreed on the raw lacquer finish though.

Thank you very much to ClassicMercs, without whom I wouldn't have known the Cinder Track existed. Gorgeous morning for a ride from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay and back.

Average speed on the cinders was somewhat lower than the last couple of miles down the A171. I noticed the seat post seems gradually to lower itself; not sure if that's a product of the vibration on the track but it's due a free first service so I'll get my dealer to nip the nut up.

I liked the Raw finish, but felt it hard ot justify paying them £150 extra to not paint it.

The new Nickel ones look amazing though.

I'd definitely be looking at one if I was buying now.

My rear rim's just cracked after just 2,200 miles.

Wasn't overly impressed with that I have to say.

Just pleased it didn't go while I was doing 40 mph down Marlow Hill.

That's not good! Is covered under warranty?

Just found this thread!

Here's my venerable S6L in a park yesterday. Haven't been out on it much recently and was reminded that I need to replace the handlebar grips!

I was going to get one in black/orange to match but I already get more than my fair share of "good natured" leg pulling. It's a S2L nice and flat round these parts so the two ratios are just fine.

I had the smaller chainwheel fitted to my S6L black edition last week. Not tried it yet but it took a while to get this from Brompton in black.

While in the LBS I did have a play with the 2017 shifters. I really like them; they're not that necessary on a bike with a maximum of 3 cogs per side but they're rapid-fire type and feel great.

I did wonder whether anyone's upgraded their shifters yet.

And whether they felt it was worth it.

I couldn't get the hang of mine to begin with, but they're second nature now.

They feel a bit cheap and flimsy to me, the only part of the bike that does though.

Cheaper and flimsier than the original shifters?

I didn't think that was possible.

Surely demic's referring to the original shifters? The new ones are integrated with the brake levers and feel higher quality than the trad style.

The topeak light wasn't lighting my way so I still needed another light to see where I was going.

Saw a cateye light on Brompton Junction that comes with Brompton bracket.

It's a little pricey at £50 but it is a nice piece of kit.

Love the look of it also.
