I tried a Brompton for the first time a fortnight ago when Iw as my brother. He has just bought a new "Chapter 9" (apparently it is some sort of special edition with limited numbers). The most surprising thing is that he is actually using it and goes out for a ride most days. I gave him one of my road bikes 10 years ago and he just left it in his shed unridden frown

His wife did try to make him sell it ... unlike my brother she is a keep cyclist & runner and thought any profit could go towards a road bike with for her.

Hi all. New B75 owner here. Anyone know if it’s normal for the 3rd gear (but not the 1st or 2nd) to click constantly when pedalling?

My B75 does it too. Doesn’t sound like anything to worry about, it’s a fairly noisy drivetrain but haven’t had any issues.

Friend and his father had issues with their sywtch kits after only a couple of days they don't sound all that reliable

Quick hilly ride around the block. Maybe 2 miles. Mine is a 2 gear Brompton and is pretty useless on any incline and impossible on anything steep. As I don’t work in London much these days it’s sat unused up here in Yorkshire.
Well it worked first time. Made me laugh out loud and made the hills really easy to zip up. Still needed to select gear 1. Hated the 15 mph max out on the flat. But so far am impressed.

You can buy a converter for the luggage block to mount it there.
I bought a new tyre and so didn’t swap the old one across. I hate fitting tyres to my Brompton and so this time I carefully used a lever to get the last 25% seated.

Had a slightly longer ride and went up the steepest hills around here. They are very steep and unrideable unless you have a decent granny gear and are relatively fit. The Brompton (and my Pashely) would be impossible up these hills (but doable (just) on my mountain bike). The electric assistance was pretty much at its limit and the battery charge was dropping quite quick but I made it without panting or sweating. Am glad I chose the more expensive longer range ‘pro’ kit.
The order process, tracking, updates etc are really annoyingly rubbish but the kit seems reasonably good quality.

Just done a longer ride. Maybe 10 miles. Very steep hills again. Didn’t break a sweat. Ok I had it on maximum power. But you can cycle a reasonable hilly distance without burning a single calorie.

Oooh! I'm expecting one of these soon for my Brompton. Did you order yours in May/June? Mine was shipped from China on the Ever Ace. Hoping it won't take too much longer...

Think mine was an April start of the process. Think they confirmed order in may.

The swytch updates on the tracker and the emails are rubbish. By the time they update it’s generally already a few days behind reality. Except with ship docking when they said it had docked it was still at sea.

I was tracking the ship en-route. There were lots of videos of it arriving in port, what with it being the largest container ship in the world. It took several weeks after the ship left Felixstowe before the order status was updated.
