Ok so swapped out brakes/gears/shock/pedals/bars/stem/grips and shifters.
We now have a little ripper.
Need some lighter cranks and the holy Grail, lighter 24" wheels.
She loved it, zoomed off and could tell the difference, so that's nice.

That looks great.

I managed to find a detonate frame for £20 so bought that. I got some Fox RL80's for £70 and the rear shock is on its way. Looking forward to building mine.

Anyone know where I can get a new rear mech hanger from? It appears to be missing.

Cheers

Dude's got skills! Looks far more controlled than I would. And conspicuously doesn't land on his face.

Hi,

I know this post still seems to be dragging but any advice on getting that that rear shock (top) bushing out?? I just cannot get it to budge. Any other suggestions. I have tried using a deep socket and managed to move it a bit but it wont come out.

Are there any alternative parts that you know of that might be used as a replacement?

Cheers

A cheap bushing tool should do the job nicely if you dont already have one:

I remember it being a real git to get out. Once I got it moving though, plenty of WD40 and eventually it came free.

Have got a big vice in the garage that helped though

Damn it,

I got fed up and beat it with a hammer (after smashing my thumb) which has now damaged the threads on one end of that bushing frown

Now I have to either come up with a clever solution for another top bushing or try and find a replacement detonate rear shock.

can't recall threads on the bushing, Thought it was just a tube. If you can still measure the old bit it looks like bushings are available for a few quid on ebay and chain reaction.

Well,

I got it all finished. Looks great. The only thing I have found and I thought I saw somewhere someone had this issue as well....

The rear shock seems to take a lot of weight to start it moving (way more than my lad) and then it seems to work fine. Any ideas why this could be ot did you get this same issue?

I find my lads is a bit sticky initially but once I've sat on it once it then works fine. I did put a very thin smear of fork grease on it to ease things and stop it squeaking. What pressure have you put in, I didn't put much in at all, 40psi from memory but I can check it if you like. If I sit on it it goes straight to the bottom

I don't know how complex these shocks are, but t is probably valved for someone a lot heavier. If it's anything like a car damper oil damping circuit it takes a lot more weight than your lad to crack the bottom of the shim stack open to allow the oil to pass through.
