They should get OKGO and Dizee on this, head to head at the end and weeks of training in the buildup..... Would be interesting....

What a load of utter st. Surely the best way to see would be to enter them into say 10 races and see who got the most BC points or something.
I thought this would be right up your street....smile

Already gone quicker than Hayles ever managed for a 25 so probably not worth my time

Ye. Someone needs to take whoever did this round the back of the bike shed with a bar of soap and a pillow case and beat them until they realise sportives are not races. I'm not to bothered about people who do treat them like races, but it shouldn't be encouraged.

Not so much that - we all know about sportives and what they are/are not - but given the nature of the show, I genuinely think entering the two people into some proper races would be a really interesting thing to see, tactics, fitness, judgement etc would all come into it and it would make for a good experiment. As it is, its just about how can surf the wheels the best round the Dragon or Fred Whitton, or Hell of Ashdown, as I should imagine its going to be one of those.

Fair play if they send them off to do the LBL at 170 miles, but I somehow doubt that biggrin

Train them up with a few Palaces and then get them to do a Prem Calendar at the end of the season, job done would be worth watch that.

That would require them selecting people with some talent to begin with though.

Which proves what? Someone half handy on a bike already can be made to go faster?

Isn't it more fun to pick an average bloke like me who does no racing just some club rides with Chorley Choppers, give me some proper coaching and training then see the increase in ability?

If they pick an existing cat 2/3 rider, what they're basically saying is we have little confidence in our coaching ability and need something to work with, not we can take any old chopper and make him competitive.

The idea to me is that they can take an average rider, with some modicum of talent and make them really good - 2/3 cat rider perfect for that!

What is interesting about some genetic no hoper - nothing. You can't turn a cart horse into a race horse, they need to pick people with good potential or it will be totally pants.

I get your point but that's hardly a challenge is it? It's not the best advert for the coaches if they have to find someone who is already 70% of the way to the objective...

It has potential to be interesting, but they do need to pick someone really who has the engine but not the skill or has trained for that long.

part of the entry was a link to your strava account so they could obviously pick the "right" person, the one who alreadys trains with HR, power, club rides etc etc ultimately they wont want a tubby wobbler who might not get the desired results and as a consequence, make their coaching plans look bad!
