I have a G3 power meter which I bought 2nd hand a few months ago. It has been fine, except for today. Whenever the Garmin detects it it says do you want to calibrate. I always click yes, it then shows successful and a current value of 512 or there abouts. Today it showed successful but the value was over 800. When I turned the cranks no torque showed at all.

I changed the battery and updated the firmware. Now on the calibration screen the current value shows as 20 and it does show some torque. However the power values it gives out are very low.

Anyone got any ideas? I have emailed their support

Had the same thing twice with mine, unfortunately only way to resolve it was to send it back to Cycle Powermeters for a rebuild (second time was covered under warranty).May well be a problem with the torque tube

Damm, was worried that might be the case. Torque tube sounds expensive.

Sent it back to paligapltd, I bought it 2nd hand so going to have to shell out to repair it. Service cost is £50 and looks like the torque tube is circa 300.

FML.

It lives. I contacted Saris. They said with the new firmware a value of 20 is normal. I took it for a test ride and it farted about for 5 minutes then just seemed to settle down and start working.

It certainly seems to me to be accurate. I put it on the turbo and everything (speed, HR, power, cadence) seemed normal.

Must have just been the battery that was going and needed some time to re-calibrate.
