Update: test ride on friday night showed removing a link made no difference, so took the bike back yesterday (as they offered) and picked up a replacement.
(There are some benefits to Halfords!

Test ride on my usual trails yesterday afternoon was great - didnt get the gear-jumping issue (but did get a few Strava PRs).
Im going to leave all the suspension settings as they are today for the next ~30 miles, and see if the issue returns. If it does, then at least i can rule that out. The new BETD hanger is on its way to me so will be able to fit that too.

Sounds like you had a faulty bike all round. At least you got a complete replacement.

By the way, if any of you jokers are near Swinley, i have suggested a group ride out on Sunday morning. Non-Boardman owners are allowed too!

I live across the road, so will likely be out anyway even if no-one else fancies it.

Isn't that a Rockshox maxle thru axle ?
Yes that's what Halfords have ordered as a warranty replacement, but I may not have it until Friday at the earliest!

They wouldn't let me have one off another bike.
The clip that holds the quick release section together has snapped, it may still work, but don't want to chance it

May be of interest - i heard today on the Boardman Owners FB page that BETD (who produce the revised hanger) have also developed a rear suspension linkage that slackens the head angle from 68.5 to ~67.
At ~£100 i think i will wait and see what people think of it before stumping up the moolah. Also, as im not a hardcore downhiller maybe im not the target audience.
Doesnt appear on the BETD website yet though.

I dont see the point in that really, you would buy a different bike if you were a hardcore downhiller.
All it will really do is sit the rear lower increasing pedal strikes.
You are probably better of getting a slackerizer headset, and cheaper I think.

Joining this group in case anyone spots the next Halfords 20% discount.
I didn't realise they were only for short periods and I just missed the latest one that finished an hour ago.
Boardman FS Pro is on my shopping list

Apparently the prices of the Boardman have just gone up, some think this happens just before they do another sale, so keep your eyes open. It is a cracking bike

Bought one second-hand from Gumtree from a chap in Northern Ireland, couple of months old. Makes things easier and quicker for me.
1. I wouldn't be able to bring it back to Indonesia till my next visit (April or May if lucky)
2. We're always at our limit for luggage anyway, 15kg extra is 500 quid with Emirates!
3. A new one sent to Indonesia would incur monstrous tax

So a second hand one sent out here should be arriving back end of next week in time for me getting home from work!
Second-hand should not incur any penalties or taxes by customs, let's see what happens there.

Ordered mine yesterday so should get I either tomorrow or Friday. Bonus was that they had the wrong price on it in the shop. Was 1199 and after I made the deal they removed the tag to change it back to 1500. With my British cycles discount of nother 10% and my Christmas £25 I'm getting a pretty good deal though unsure if I'll get 10% off 1199 or 1500. I'm paying on pick up and the receipt says the bike was 1500 and they price matched, therefore hoping the 10% will be on the full price.

Asked about the replacement hanger and they said they would look in to it. If not I can order and they will fit for free when it comes.

Excited though, last bike was a 2011 orange p7

Remember to ask for some freebies as you are buying such an expensive bike.
Dont be fobbed off with a free service plan and you should get between £50-100 of accessories to choose.
Oh and check all the bolts yourself when you get home.

so picked up the bike today, got a bit of a result in the shop. same salesman today, started chatting about picking up the new bike etc so kept him chatting, also noticed the model in showroom was gone so chatted about that. Then told him I'd left phone in car so didn't have the cycle club number on me. Don't worry he said I've got the code here anyway to put it through. Anyway next thing was he asked me what price the bike was displayed at, I told him 1199 and he just said "woops, Ive put in the wrong price but I'm not changing it now" He only went and put it in at £1000. I was delighted. Then he said right, I'll put the discount on!!!!! Then I had a Christmas voucher.

So all in got a buff, a shock pump and an FS Pro for ....£875 Total result!

Only been round the village as it's dark but feels really smooth. 1 x 11 is awesome, great range but only one lever. Adjusted sag but not convinced my 75kg needs 160 psi so going to read up on that and read the manuals (not that they look any good!)

Oh and the rear shock is a monarch RT, is it not meant to be just an R

It's a great bike, mine handled Bike park Wales at the weekend with no problems.
Just need a dropper post, I'm looking at a Giant Contact SL, as it's the only one that I'm 99.9% sure will fit

I use a KS eTen 125mm Stealth fits perfectly in my large frame. Only £150 as well. Still faultless since May last year.

I don't think that size will fit in the small frame that I have. I only need a 100mm drop and a 350mm post

Has anyone replaced their rear thru axle, I've managed to snap off my Allen key in the hole. It is a formula fqr-12e but can't find anything on google.

I bought mine from Stif Cycles.
Best to ring them up and ask if they have in stock as I dont think stock levels are computerised.
