Raleigh Max - tyre size

Dusted off the Raleigh in my garage with an aim to use it to get around.
The tyres that it currently has are very off road biased, so I'm looking to put some road versions on.
The wheels are 26inch, but it's the width where I'm unsure - should it be 1.95 or bigger or smaller?
Also do you have any brand recommendations?

I do remember the tyres on my old Raleigh Max III being 2.10 width. Hope this helps bud
