Best route planning app for iPhone

I generally cycle close to home, so have never needed to use route planning apps, but next week I'm providing bicycle support for a charity event and will need to cycle from Coventry to Northampton on my own after the event, an area completely unknown to me. No doubt the car based sat nav apps I have currently on my phone will take me on major roads which I'm keen to avoid. What's the best cycling app to enable me to plan my route and use it as a Sat Nav whilst attached to my handlebars?

Pretty sure none of the main players (MapMyRide, Strava) don't do turn by turn.

Have you tired Google maps?

"Here" uses downloadable Google maps for offline and has cycle option.

Google Maps has got a cycle mode, but not all the paths may be suitable for a road bike, if that is what you are riding. I usually use the Strava heatmaps function to see popular roads/trails in conjunction with an OS map.

I'm in Coventry, but used to live over Northampton way, so if you need a hand with the route, or want it sanity checked let me know.
