Another good write up Gruffy; what's up with the power meter?

One of the pedals had developed some lateral play on its spindle. It's gone to PowerTap's service centre in the UK but it's been a couple of weeks already. I'm about to head off on more travels and was really hoping to have my power meter back for the taper, but it's not going to happen now.

That's isn't good news, will they give you another pair before the TCR?

Did you see that email I sent?

They'll be repaired or replaced (I'm told several weeks ago it'll be a replacement because their UK company can't recalibrate the P1 pedals). They're already overdue so I'd expect to find them waiting for me when I get back at the end of next week. There will be some swearing if I don't.

They are the ones with the internal rechargeable battery aren't they, that was a consideration for me when looking at a PM. I was assured the factory be offering a replacement service in due course.

I am sure you will be able to get a new pair out of them.

They run on AAA's, which was part of the reason for choosing them. I can find AAA's anywhere in Europe. I'm starting to find the popularity of the blog is helpful when it comes to things like this. I doubt it'll come to that though.

Another one to just find your blog (yesterday actually but it took me 2 days to read it all!)

Best of luck Gruffy, please be sure to pop a link in this thread to the daily tracking that you speak about as I'd like to follow you on your quest.
Truth be told I'd love to do something similar but sadly I was built for love and cuddles not speed lol

Best of luck.

I leave for Belgium in 24 hours. The race starts Friday at 10pm CET (9pm UK time).

Links
Full tracking details will be available on the TCR website.
I believe this Trackleaders URL will be the link for the live map where you can see every race's GPS trace.
My blog is at The Adventure Capitalist.

I'm rider 114 so my unique social media hashtag is #TCRNo4S114. Race organisers and media will be using this. You can use this to search for content but also include it when you join in the conversation.
Lastly, but most importantly, my Just Giving page for Cancer Research. Sharing that and sending it through the roof would be the best way to support me.

Great blog and some good musings on the trancendentalism of long distance events.

I wish you a tailwind and blue skies.

Good luck

Me too. The current forecast, however, is for lots of rain and, apparently, a risk of snow on the early Alpine stuff. I've fitted mudguards, swapped the knee warmers for leg warmers and included some shoe covers.

Pretty much all of my training has been in abysmal weather so, as unpleasant as the ride might be, in my over-optimistic mind I think it might help my finishing position if conditions are grim enough to break some spirits.
