whose the loon signed up for the transcontinental race?
Discussion
I've had plenty of practice with sleep deprivation. It's getting more difficult as I get older and I can't do it for extended periods any more. This week's poor sleep isn't ideal, but I'm now at my Airbnb rental and I'll be shooting for a very early night. Then breakfast. Then a nap. Then lunch, registration, briefing and some last minute panic buying before trying for another nap. Then we're off at 9pm UK time. Hopefully that'll at least get me back to a neutral place before the race.
I just rode from Brussels to Geraardsbergen but no more than 200m out of the station and my front mech fell off. Probably took a knock in transit. Also managed to lose a cleat cover somewhere and the new cleats are already looking ropey, so I'm going to try and find Look Keo cleats in Geraardsbergen tomorrow. And sort out the rubbing front disc. And set my GPS up again after it reset itself.
If I get the time I'd love to post one more blog entry about the final prep or my kit.

Thread of the day? That'll be why my blog stats have gone crazy then. That's awesome, thanks guys. It's amazing to see the Cancer Research donations ramping up too.
I have the Just Giving app on my phone, which is mounted on the bars. Every time a donation is made it makes a noise like coins dropping into a piggy bank that sounds exactly like the bolt falling out of my front mech and onto the floor again. I want the donations to keep coming but damn it gives me a scare every time they do!

Don't tell us that I might be tempted to set an alarm for 3am just to donate and give you a scare 😉I have the Just Giving app on my phone, which is mounted on the bars. Is there a really difficult day you calculate you will be in mountains?... Tempted to hold off the donation and do it that day if the sound effect of new donations helps get you over the mountains (despite risk of sound effect scare!).
Watched that docu-film yesterday (thanks for the link), really well made and just reinforced what a crazy race it is.
One of those events that you would love to be able to do (but know it would never happen). Really admire those who are taking part.

Well his spot is on but not showing in track leaders for some reason.
