Yeh wait a couple of days and see if they have an end of TDF sale, there is a high chance they will.

Also on the note of the wheels, I completely forgot because it happened on my first ever ride, but have a go at thaking the tyres off and putting them back on in the comfort of your home and make sure they have fixed the issue (if they are still the Vision 30's).

I got a puncture 40 miles from home on my first ride, not a problem, I had an innertube with me but could I get the tyre back on!! In the end I was picked up by a friend who lived nearby and taken to his LBS who struggled for ages, changing to a more flexible tyre before they were able to get it on. Those wheels were offloaded and a set of shimano ones replaced them costing me about £10 all in.

I'd personally go for the Aero Bike (EC-130 Rivet?). Looks much more modern compared to the Pro Carbon, which is actually quite an old design now. The EC-130 is quite new to the Planet X range. There i no guarantee that it will be around for very long though.
Same as above. The aero bike is new, and the Pro Carbon has been around for about 7 years or something now. And I say that owning one. Its fine and I got a good deal on it (you need to watch the site a lot and have to knowledge of Planet X's ridiculous sale levels and try and time your buy at the right time else next week it will be £300 cheaper).

I wouldnt buy a pro carbon for more than about 800 as it often gets down to that level if not less.

Not a lot to add, but I would definitely look out for the deals / offers / real prices showing up.

I was watching the frames for a while, and the day I should have bought was Christmas Day.

I was also looking at an RT-80 (I think) which was down to £1499 with Dura-Ace. When I looked at the spec it seemed to have top spec group-set, a mid range frame, and a wheelset you could buy (retail) for £109.

I'm not saying don't go for it, I know a couple of people who have them and really rate them, but they mess about with the prices, and when it comes to the specs, they know where to put the better components for most impact. Budget for a new set of wheels.

"Can't fault a PX for value, I've got an RT-58 which had to have a new frame under warranty as the rear derailleur cable got stuck internally. Fair play to them, they designed the fault out on the new frame."

Interesting to hear this Mr Wolf; I had the same bike, and it developed the same fault a week out of the two year warranty. They insisted it was a one off, wouldn't give me a replacement etc. Had to have a conversation with Dave Loughran to get anything out of them. Did come away with a Ti bike made by a small American company - it's identical to this. It was a sample; there's only about five of them. Wasn't free, but a small modicum towards it.

Very happy with it. Less happy with PX, and with internal routing on plastic bikes

I would be very wary of dealing with them again.

I'm lucky that I'm time served and could demonstrate the cause of the fault. If you look at the current RT58 it has been redesigned with access holes to allow you to get to the internal cable route.

I had one of the very first Rt-58's (integrated cable entry point) which needed re-cabling after about 22 months. The front mech cable internal guide had come adrift so it couldn't be done.

Fair play to PX they replaced the frame (with an improved design) under warranty with no quibbles (they did the frame swap with all new inner/outer cables and grips at no charge). After reading the interweb reviews about PX customer service I was expecting a battle and ended up impressed with the service I received!!

Yeah I realised that a few weeks ago - always ESCGolf. Almost as if they buy up all the broken bikes and flog em off.

All a shame, as the RT-58 was very good. Obviously had a shoddy batch, but rather than admit to it, PX seem to go out of their way to be difficult

I think they only do limited R&D, the fact that they changed the design says something...

I've tried buying through his shop a couple of times. He puts a buy it now and best offer, yet seemed to want about £3 off the buy it now price. Doersn't respond quickly to messages either.

The stock take Planet X sale is pretty dam good. Starts at 30% and can end up at 60%. Pro Carbon frames cam be had for £250 or so, which is pretty good when you think about it.

Had my Classic for a few months now and like the others have said I cant fault it. Compared to my Fuji I can go faster on the flat and maintain speed a lot easier. The quality is good and I love the Sram Force.

However, I have a medium and it does come up small and I look daft on it. I got an awesome deal but perhaps I should have made the trip up North and got fitted up for it.

I got fed up of waiting for a Planet X sale to bring the cost of the EC-130e down - in fact, I think they've put it up since I started this thread!

Anyway, just purchased a Ribble R872 Ultegra Di2 for £1599 - bargain IMO. Looking forward to getting it in a week or two!

Ok, that is a real bargain. Group set alone is £900!

Have to say, if I was spending £1500 on an Ultegra-equipped bike, my money wouldn't go to Planet X - it would go on something like this: https://www.evanscycles.com/cannondale-supersix-ev...

Planet X are alright, but they suck when it comes to resale value and you can only try them out in a handful of places.

Well, having had previously only used PX for lights etc, I jumped in with this sale and ordered a raft of clothing, bottles, tubes, all sorts of little bits. 1 week later, no sign of despatch etc.

I think they fall into the trap of putting on big promotions, without the manpower to ship them all out. I'm not massively bothered when all my bits arrive, but if I was waiting for something significant (important spare part, or worse a new bike) I'd be getting exponentially frustrated - why say "delivered in 3 days" when you mean "not shipped after 5"?

Some Gump, just ordered a few bits from Planet X, gloves, lights etc. in one of the Facebook Bargain flashes. They arrived yesterday so too around 8 days. I was surprised in these days of virtually instant dispatch that they too around 5 days to dispatch it but now here & a good price.

Ordered about £120 worth of clothing last Friday (clubbed together with some mates to get free shipping,) and no sign of dispatch yet.

Not massively bothered, as mentioned above, but probably wouldn't use for something I really needed in a rush.

Threads like these need to manage expectations, and I think they do a good job. Planet X do what they do very well. Buy in bulk, sell at a good price.

As a consumer, you need to time your purchases for the best prices, and not get stressed about the service time. If you time it right, you're getting medium quality goods, at low quality goods prices, delivered by Yodel.

Just don't expect Rapha gear with Amazon:Prime levels of service!
