Ride100 - Are you ready?
Discussion
Having failed to gain a ballot place again, I shall probably do the same as I did once before, and go out to do the course 'after hours' so to speak.
Last time, I picked the route up at the bottom of the Newlands Corner climb, after the closures were lifted, and followed it up as far as Kingston where I switched back to the south and finished (the official route) roughly where I started. Then add in the getting there and getting back and I'm good for the distance.
Following the route won't be an issue, even if the official strip-out crews have taken all the signs down. I will just follow the trail of gel wrappers, discarded bottles, tubes and broken components. It's pretty much continuous all the way round...

Had some spare time so plotted the route in Strava, I think it's mostly accurate although it didn't like going the wrong way down some roads/one way systems!

Similar thing here. Gonna do a bit of riding around Ranmore after things have all died down before stopping on Staple Lane to watch the pros and then do some of the route around Horsley in reverse on the way home. Probably much less than the 100 as I need to be home early.Last time, I picked the route up at the bottom of the Newlands Corner climb, after the closures were lifted, and followed it up as far as Kingston where I switched back to the south and finished (the official route) roughly where I started. Leave you're wallets at home when you go to register , the exit is through the bike stuff stalls.
Any Schwalbe Pro One stockists there?Loads of power bar ilk stalls offering free samples. I tend to not use them so i wasn't really interested.
Jelly babies does me.

Food wise are we talking a mini mars bar/kendall mint cake combo or something more cyclo-specific?
Everyone has their own plan, mine is; good breakfast (porridge, bananas & protein shake), drink (SiS Go powder then tabs) every 10mins, gel every hour (SiS Go), only use feed stations as source of Water unless it's all gone pear shaped!ALawson said:
My plan is to sit in a group of riders, do a bit on the front and get round in sub 4.5hrs. Having done a few proper chaingangs recently where I shameless hid at the bad its remarkable looking at the power data comparing being at the front vs back. I expect I will get dropped by the lighter chaps on the climbs, need to try not to blow up.
Still deciding on Edco wheels or not!
This gives you a idea of riding in the front group ... Get ready for a crash fest if you want to stay up there . Cant say its something im tempted to do again . Still deciding on Edco wheels or not!

RideLondon finishers... who else is aching today?
Absolutely knackered, but breezed into work on the Brompton today regardless. Not so impressive time but what a great day out! Didn't get caught up in any stoppages myself but did see/hear a few nasty, clattery smashes. Hope everyone else escaped without injury...
In all, what an event! In pain at the end but riding along The Mall was hugely special. Props to all the folk in Surrey who, despite all the road closures, were out in force. Made such a difference!
